My money is on "a few special modifications" made to that Hound.

I think that particular Hound was just left-handed.

Bleh. I take it back. It's a twisted abomination and it gives me the willies.

Not sure. I'd guess it's some kind of ship. Looks really tiny.

It looks like a Lasher.  Raised command room in the center, the engine pattern on the back seems to match the Lasher as well.

Note: please sacrifice your goats responsibly, look up the proper pronunciation of Alex's name. We wouldn't want some other project receiving mystic power.

if that's a lasher, david has another thing about scale coming......

see that supply crate under it? Use that as reference to the 2 next to the crewman giving his captain the finger (is that what he's doing)

I'm gonna guess either spare parts or a broadsward... some sort of fighter anyhow...

ANALYSIS OF LOWER IMAGE
The bottom most image features what can be seen as a set of derelict shapes and scrap metal freely floating throughout space. The title of the image 'space_wreck.jpg' probably means that along with this quote at the top of the page 'cropped down to little scenes to show for game event choices and so on' that this is what most probably will be seen should the player either destroy every ship in the enemy fleet or lose their fleet. The derelict objects in the picture are very clearly just random pieces, for they do not match up to any weapon or ship in Starf-Sector.

Based on the appearance of the Hound, the space junk, we can be primarily assured of a much different handling of the current communication system, but the Hound raises the question of there being much bigger fish in the ocean, if you catch my drift.
