Modding Weapons Graphics: Possible?

I was just wondering if its possible to modify the turret sprites of different weapons or change their projectile graphics? I see a tool for opening ship files (which I've experimented with already) but not weapon files. Any hints in the right direction?

Both are possible. Its all text editing and painting your own weapon pictures.

Yeah, there aren't editors for everything (yet), just for ships.
For everything else you'll have to deal with editing text files to modify stuff.

Ah ok thanks I'll look into it. My mod may have to wait until modding is more supported because editing the text is just asking for any updates (many will be quite extensive I imagine) to break it.

Indeed, all mods at the moment break when a new update comes along, but most modmakers here are active enough to have their mods updated and ready for the new version within a couple days.

I would not wait with modding, even when your work becomes obsolete you at least have gotten some experience with it.
