A reminder to modders that maintaining proper spelling and grammar in descriptions and mission briefings will go a long way toward creating a higher quality mod.  Just as many of us strive for parity with vanilla, in terms of art and balance, it's important to consider the less obvious details that will quickly break immersion.

Reading over your writing and using a spellchecker that can handle grammar and proper usage, such as Open Office or MS Word, will help improve the quality of your mods.

For my part, I notice weak grammar and typographic errors easily and am bothered by them more than any oddities concerning hull sprites or other graphical bling. Especially weak grammar. It's jarring to stumble through some text copy that creates the impression that the writer either can't convincingly paint a picture in words about his creative game concept, or simply has a weak concept entirely and is also lacking the ability to flesh it out in prose.

I think it's easier to create a convincing hull than it is to write convincing prose. That's unfortunate, because in my experience the latter can often add more to player immersion and sheer game satisfaction than the former can.

Maybe we could offer to proofread the text that will be implemented in mods?

English isn`t my native, so point me to any grammar/spelling errors you will find in my mod :)

Keptin, can I ask your honest opinion on my grammar and spelling in the Antediluvian mod? I can foresee issues with my archaic way of writing. And I tend to be long-winded. Plus I refer to the King's English, and spell words as 'color, armor, honor and aluminum' as 'colour, armour, honour and aluminium'.

This is true for any non-native English speakers...

Wait isn't this why writers are a normal gaming profession nowadays?

I've noticed that too. Obviously if you're able to take feedback and will ultimately weed out the grammar and spelling mistakes its all good.

@ Uomoz: I'm not sure about the Scourge Descriptions, but the Purifiers in your Corvus Sector Mod have really weird grammar. They are kind of linked to the scourge right?

Yeah! They were made by arcibalde, the Relics mod creator :)

I'll take a look at those descriptions (but my english usually sucks aswell ;))

If anyone with good english grammar skills and such could take a look and edit the decriptions in U'sC (not changing the meaning of the sentences, but upgrading the quality), I'd be thankful and properly credit in the OP under the "Hall of Fame".
