COMMUNITY MODS

OTHER MODS
  • Half Fleet Point Mod:
Halfs the fleet point of all Vanilla ships. Values are rounded down, this will upset the balance of varius ships.
  • Hard Mode:
Replaces all non-starter vanilla variant files with upgraded vanilla variants. All ships now have all relevant hull modifications and maxed-out vents and capacitors. All ships that had front-type shields now have omni-type shields. The player's starter ships have bin limited to the Starter variants who have bin left unaltered. This should prove to be a much more difficult game. If you want an even greater challenge you'll refrain from using fighter wings.
  • Station Stocks Mod Bundle (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
2 Mods. One adds everything you could ever want to all stations. The other does the same but also makes all station give everything away for free. A new game is required for this to work.

  • Savegame Compression Mod (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
Enables the game's savegame compression option, this allows for much faster saving and loading. *WARNING* You will not be able to manually edit your saved games any more.
  • Fog-of-war Disabler Mod (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
Disables fog of war in the game.
  • Simulation Opponents Mod Bundle (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
5 Mods. Each adds different opponent ships to the simulation battle accessible from your refit screen. They add quite a lot of them.
  • Resource Stack Size Mod Bundle (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
6 Mods. Changes the max stack size of you resources. These include Supplies, Fuel, Crew, and Marines. Swap them whenever you like.
If you swap and load a saved game the previous stack size might still apply, but pushing the sort button solves that.
  • Font Mod Bundle (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
48 Mods. These things SUCK. Not really worth it, has maybe 4 or 5 good ones but no font comes even close to the good look of what we already have.
I made these to see what secret fonts the game held but it turned out to be mostly worthless. Still, feel free to try them.
  • Default Background Mod Bundle !NEW! vandala ID)
3 Mods. This mod bundle does not include any actual backgrounds, they just change the default background too one that already exist. The default background affects the background you see in the campaign, while at the main menu and in missions that do not have a preferred background specified.

  • Sweet Start Mod Bundle (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
6 Mods, one for each capital ship, accompanied by a fleet filled up to 100 point or close to it.
  • Capital Start Mod Bundle (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
8 Quick Start mods of the Capital variety, activate the mod to add the named ship to your starting fleet.
  • Cruiser Start Mod Bundle (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
10 Quick Start mods of the Cruiser variety, activate the mod to add the named ship to your starting fleet.
  • Destroyer Start Mod Bundle (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
18 Quick Start mods of the Destroyer variety, activate the mod to add the named ship to your starting fleet.
  • Frigate Start Mod Bundle (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
28 Quick Start mods of the Frigate variety, activate the mod to add the named ship to your starting fleet.

  • Remove Faction Color Mod Bundle (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
6 Mods. One for each faction. Makes their faction color completely transparent. Use these at your own risk as things tend to get a little more difficult.
  • Pony Color Mod Bundle (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
6 Mods. Color your fleet with the color of one of the six main cast from the Friendship is Magic cartoon series.
  • Color Mod Bundle (Z*-lock, vandala ID)
30 Mods. Adds a little variety to your faction's color pallet. Swap them whenever you like.

What is Z*-lock?: Z*-lock mean that the mod has a Z and an extra character in front of its name in your mod selection list. This puts all those mods at the bottom of your mod list where they stay out of the way of all your other more important full graphical mods made by other people . It also categorizes them together by type predetermined by myself, which can be handy.
What is vandala ID?: This just means the ID of the mod has my forum name attached to it to prevent ID conflicts with other mods that might share an otherwise similar ID. As long as no one else uses this name in their mod ID's everything should work smoothly. I decided to do this because these mods are getting kinda numerous and they are of a rather general type.

This was the original post.
Spoiler
Silly idea, I know but hear me out.

What is we made a bunch of mods that add to the game without adding any graphics to it?

My quickstart mods are a good example, one of those only cost 15.3 kB in size. Granted that one doesn't do much but it's still something.

We need idea's, what are the things we can mod that doesn't take a lot of space?

Examples:
Increase diversity in hostile fleets.
Add more variants to the game.
Build your favorite startup frigate.
Is it possible to make enemy fleets more numerous?
Can we add more planets without big files to download?

Maybe I'm just spoiled being on broadband, but I just don't view anything less than 1 GB a hefty download anymore.

Anyways to contribute, I think modifying the Corvus sector to improve the vanilla "late game" would be amazing. Just adding more numerous and more powerful fleets, and making them all hostile for instance would be a fantastic way to up the difficulty and provide replay without adding graphics or any other mods.

Thank you craftomega, but the first three examples were not questions.

I know a little bit about the TT ships so I can make stuff with them but if someone else could work on the other factions ships and weapons that would be nice.

I could turn this topic into a dumping ground for graphic-less mods. People could add what they want and I'll incorporate it into the opening post. make a nice list of it.

I agree with Trylobot's late game ideas, but ultimately I'm waiting for future versions of the game to introduce additional core content and become even more editable (e.g. sound, multi-sector travel, time/event based events, etc.).

I hope that I'll eventually be able to create a lengthy mission on a huge map that has me doing things like "investigate distress signal" at which point I'll venture toward a crippled ship floating in space and once I get within a certain proximity of said ship (an event), pirate raiders will spawn nearby accompanying the text, "Arg, I hope ye be more cooperative than your friend.  We had to teach him a lession",  and then I'll have to brace myself for waves of pirates with a spawn countdown timer until I win the mission by either A, both ships surviving the attack waves or B, tow the crippled ship off the map using a tractor beam while fending off enemies.

My Starfarer modding fantasy in all of its glory.  In fact, I'll create a suggestion thread.

Updated the opening post with new content.

Damn that took a long time to build for something so insignificant. But I think they all work perfectly now, let me know if there are any problems.

*sigh* Still found a mistake.

I've re-uploaded the tempest build, I forgot to include a wasp wing. This is because tempest do have a hanger space of 4 so it fits perfectly.

New small mod added. Halfs the fleet points value of all Vannila ships, allowing for much larger fleets, much like the earlier version. (values are rounded down, game balance can be upset)

New mod added to the opening post.

There is now a Hard Mode mod.

Hard mode replaces all non-starter vanilla variant files with upgraded vanilla variants.

23 new mods added to the main post.

All of them are color mods that change your faction color in the game.

The have bin bundled into two downloads, the standard colors and a special pony flavored one.

Not all mods in these bundles have bin actually tested, if you notice mistakes of any kind please tell me about it so I can fix them.

EDIT: This might be a fun little idea, if you are completely new to modding, check out the innards of the color mods, they are probably the most minimalistic mods you'll even find. Very easy to understand, very easy to add your own favorite colors to Starfarer. Google RGBA color codes for more color ideas.

Another mod bundle added.

Choose your own starting capital ship and get a nice full fleet to go with it as well.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that if you have a dream fleet that you think other people should tryout or you just want to have at-the-ready as a start-up mod, you can always ask me to make it for you. You can be as detailed at you want and even add your own custom variants if you want (though that will probably take some extra time for me to get right).

Just want to thank you for the start-out mods; I haven't even encountered an Astral or Paragon, so this is my only way to use one. Thanks again!
