I can't find the thread right now but someone was talking about how they had one sandwiched between two Conquest broadsides and it still took about half a minute to kill.
Yeah, they are insanely durable for their class. I dumped 3 Reapers into the back of one once and it lived somehow.

which can be upped to a whopping 1675 with heavy armor and armored weapon emplacements, then the hull can be moved up to a similar 16,600 with reinforced bulkheads and insulated engine assembly.

That just makes them more satisfying to kill. But yeah, those are impressive stats.

i do believe the venture is classed as a long range cargo hauler.

You won't be able to refit fighters and bombers at all. They're designed/balanced around having a particular set of weapons and would be very broken if you could change it. Which ones you pick for your fleet -out of quite a few that are available- is the choice here, not how they're outfitted.

i do believe the venture is classed as a long range cargo hauler.

Probably more than that... it's certainly better-equipped, better-armed, and FAR tougher than any hauler.

As a long-range, self-sufficient mining/exploration/prospecting ship in dangerous areas, though, that makes a lot more sense.

Thus, "Venture."

the venture and the apogee are the only 2 ships that strike me as "exploration and things other than combat" ships i mean hell the apogee has Exploration in its name? could be the description not sure. all the other ships strike me as more spartan warships versus the venture which is CLEARLY a mining ship i mean it even has a nice spot for some mining drones, and the apogee looks like a very nice cruiser to explore in. im not counting the freighters like the atlas and the buffalo because they can't participate in combat, or at least, SHOULDN'T the venture and apogee can still hold their own.

Also I totally had the name BEFORE the cruiser.

They can hold their own fairly well. It seems like the exploration vessels can take quite a beating (The venture's huge health and armor and the apogee's massive shield).

the venture kinda inspired me to write a story ( specifically this thread and one other) for my latest game of Starfarer i didn't originally intend to put it up here but i'm going to now, not here but in its own topic.
