so soldier, is your faction going to have larger ships? or just small ones and fighters?
Mainly gonna be an addon for the Independent Faction.  More fighters, bombers, and a new frigate.  Also a new carrier with two flight decks, based off of the Hammerhead Destroyer.  I hope Psiyon can add a station for the Independents (maybe at near the Hegemony Station, since the Hegemony and the Independents are allies).  I would have a lot of midline ships and fighters, along with a few ballistic and energy-based weapons.  I really wanted to add new assault fighters and bombers, so that's why I made this. ;D

Cordacc, while I think your ships are decent, keep in mind that if you plan on compiling them into a faction for this mod, they should be relatively balanced in terms of the original game. Your first ship is extremely overpowered weapon-wise, as it's got like, 50 slots. That, and when you said it "basically wrecks anything that isn't a oort fort or omega." that kind of makes me tentative to include it in the mod.

The cruiser is a bit better, but I believe it would be best if it didn't have so many forward-mounted slots.

Not trying to discourage you or anything, just trying to be fair to everyone else contributing to this so they don't get annihilated by your ships.


All the ships i build are pure kitbash - every time i try to paint in the gaps it looks "fake"
I was hoping to learn a few trade secrets.
I might have a video for you later today or tomorrow, but no promises.

So what if it has a lot of forward facing mounts?  If anything's stupid enough to get in front of it, it's gonna die.  Long as it doesn't have much point defense behind, it's fine.

Excelent - I have already seen your Sprite Rendering where you created the Frigate.
I look forward to the next one where you "Post Process" them in Photoshop  ;D

I don't see it as much of a problem if everyone keeps things relatively balanced to what's in vanilla already. At least, that's how I'm going to be doing things :P

Yeah, but it's got 5 medium mounts, and 6 small mounts too, meaning it definitely does have excellent potential PD capabilities. -- It could be brought to an acceptable level by removing a few of the medium/small mounts, and removing the two large forward hardpoints in the middle.

I'm not ultra-concerned about balance. As long as everything's in the ballpark, I'm fine. It's just the blatantly overpowered stuff that I really don't want.

i think i will make my cruiser into a capital ship and not even have the other capital ship, it is kinda like reallllyyy powerful, the only time it loses is if the fleet is so large it runs out of ammo (when player controlled it can take out any and every fleet I have come across so far). Also just finished a destroyer, how does it look, balance wise?(3 med ballistic turrets, 1 med ballistic hardpoint, 10 small ballistic turrets)

I am planning on making a min faction with no fighters, but relatively powerful fast midline ships. But also quite expensive.

I think it would be good if it were toned down a little bit. Maybe remove the central medium turret, and take away about four of the small turrets. I suppose it could also work if it were given a low OP count, making you decide "Do I want this thing to be a death trap glistening with guns, or do I want just a few good guns and a reliable ship?"

Try to look at the weapon_data.csv for weapon chargeup rate.
