[0.34a] Settings screen cropped in 1024*600 [not a bug]
« on: June 17, 2011, 01:10:14 AM »

Hi,

I tried to play Starfarer on my 1024*600 eeepc. The resolution override trick still works, however it would be nice to have the proper resolution detected instead of tweaking a settings file (no much of a problem for me, but it would feel much more polished).

However I noticed that the settings screen is cropped, so I can't see the bottom part of the table, and especially the buttons.

Not sure actually if it's a problem with the key bindings table graphics being fixed-size, or an issue related to the aspect ratio. In the latter case, is there a way to force the aspect ratio to 16:10?

Best regards,

Anything less than 1024x768 isn't officially supported - which is why those resolutions aren't displayed by the launcher.

Are you considering to support 1024*600? This resolution is extremely common for netbook users.

I don't think we'll ever officially support it. It's tough to give up all that extra vertical space to support a class of computers that aren't likely to run the game very well to begin with. The higher end netbooks can run it, but then again, those tend to have at greater than 1024x768 sized screens.

The most you might see on this front is some scaling to make it work in that resolution, without looking particularly good.
