Weird bug with BSOD
« on: April 04, 2012, 08:00:14 AM »

I got a BSOD when trying to press "Fleet" In the campaign menu. I had these mods active:
(I was not testing my mod around, just so you know)
Ironclads (not active)
Uomoz corvus v7
Avan's missions and ships
CFS (not active)
Demolisher
Earth Cracker
Energy Balancing Mod
Gunrunners
MassFarer
Positron
Nomads (not active)
Relics
Sf Extended
Star Wars
TimCORP (my mod)
Weapon Pack v21
Scrappers
Big Battles

Very weird, as there aren't any reports of it in the .log
And it was a memory exeption. That's what i got from the BSOD atleast

Hmm. If it's a BSOD, it pretty much isn't a Starfarer issue. My guess would be you've got some faulty RAM.

Heh. Maybe, but I haven't had a BSOD memory error for quite a time now, and I've played more memory demanding games than starfarer. And no faulty RAM, I've checked myself, but it happend exactly ad I pressed fleet right after starting campaign. Weird.

About the worst SF could do is 1) crash the JVM or 2) crash the graphics driver, which could indeed result in an OS crash. I'm fairly certain that a BSOD as you describe is out of its reach, though - well, I suppose anything is possible, but this is just extremely unlikely.

Do you see any hs_err_pid*.log files in the Starfarer/ folder dated around the time of the crash, btw? If so, that might shed a bit of light on the situation.
