"Spoiler" tags don't open
« on: January 03, 2021, 10:00:07 AM »

Good evening, I had stopped playing StarSector for a few months, as to give the mods that I use some time to update. Today, I decided to play the game again, and as I am opening the mod pages, I have noticed one thing, no matter how many times I tried, I couldn't open the "spoiler" areas, I restarted my PC thinking it was a problem with memory, it wasn't, asking for help on the Unofficial StarSector Discord they told me to initiate on Firefox Safe mode, nope, didn't work, I then tried to open on Chrome and Opera, same thing as the previous tries.

While this is not a BIG problem it's still inconvenient, as many modders use the "Spoiler' tags to put content that would otherwise bloat up the page, and it's there that many decide if they want to download or not the mod. I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem, but either way it's still something that should be looked upon.

Hi! This seems to be the same issue as here:
http://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=19539.0

In brief, I'm not sure what might be causing it, but it doesn't appear to be a universal problem, so I suspect it's something on your end - but it's hard to imagine what, given that it's a problem in multiple browsers. Hmm. Perhaps some kind of connectivity issue - are you able to click on the link below and have it open? (I am on my end; it shows a bunch of optimized javascript, so it's not human-readable, really, but it loads fine.)

For me (your mileage may vary), spoiler tags not working is a result of my script-blocker doing its job and blocking off-site scripts; I've had to give it an explicit exception to allow scripts from code.jquery.com to function on the fractal softworks forum.

Yes, spoiler tags used to just work; one of the forum updates at some point introduced an external dependency that wasn't previously there.

If you're using Chrome, try opening the link for the thread you want on Incognito mode with all extensions disabled. It's a "nuke" option but it works for me.

Good morning Alex, I don't know what happened, but just a couple hours after I made this report the "spoiler" tags are working again, that is, on my PC, I tested on my notebook and the same problem happened, tried to use Edge there and nothing, I think that it could be something between my network and the forum's servers that is blocking the information from reaching you and back, if it's that, then there's nothing you and I can do and simply wait, thanks for your time.

Welp, like I answered to Alex, things simply started to work again on my PC, no need to allow scripts or anything like that.

I mostly use Firefox, and I already tried to use its safe mode and nothing, but it seems that the spoiler tags are working again for now, but I will keep that in mind next time something like this happens, thanks for your time Atmo.

Weird! Glad to hear it's working again, though :)
