Hi - apologies for the trouble! Are you able to take a look at windows Event Viewer and, in Application and System categories, see if there are any events that correspond to the times of the freezes?

Thank you! Hmm - to clarify, does just the game hang, or the entire system?

Also: in the game folder (either in Starsector/ or in Starsector/starsector-core) there may be some files named like this:
hs_err_pidXXXX.log

Where XXXX is a bunch of numbers. If those are present, could you paste the most recent one here?

Hmm. Unfortunately nothing specific comes to mind, but here are some general things that could very well help:

1) Running the game as administrator
2) Running the game in compatibility mode for Windows 95/7/XP
3) Turning off anything else you might have running (especially stuff like MSI Afterburner, anything to do with video capture/playback, etc)

It's not actually clear whether the issue is with the graphics driver/card or with some other aspect of the system, unfortunately. IF it's graphics-related then I'd suggest messing with whatever settings are available - say, adjusting the hardware acceleration level - to see if that makes a difference. If you have Chrome, then adjusting the hardware acceleration level *there* can actually have system-wide effects.

Nothing from list worked and my laptop doesn't have option to change hardware acceleration.

Only thing i managed to get from this is that game freezes in bigger battles or while fighting Stations so reason is probably
many things happening on screan.

At this point it seems that my laptop can't run this game specifically do to it not happening with any other game or program.

So just to confirm, the option to turn off hardware acceleration isn't there specifically in Chrome, either?

I'm not exactly sure what's going on; at this point I'd suspect it's some kind of graphics driver issue, but since updating the drivers didn't help... well, one thing to try would be using a considerably older version of the graphics drivers, if you can find one. It's a bit of a long shot but that has helped occasionally in the past.

TJJ suggested the frame rate cap, which i tried out: https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=18624.15 to some success.

TJJ suggested the frame rate cap, which i tried out: https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=18624.15 to some success.

Seemed to work really well, normally the freeze would happen anywhere from 20 seconds after loading in to 5 minutes. This helped for about 4 hours
before:

I was simply salvaging a derelict, hold ctrl to speed up inventory animations, then I attempt to quick-move the supplies---it doesn't register, click again, then I realize it happened in an inventory menu... Everything is frozen (audio stops too), except the now win10 loading cursor, for a few seconds before the cursor returns to the Starsector cursor, audio resumes like normal, things in-game continue, but the whole screen (except the Starsector cursor) is now completely black (sometimes the Starsector startup loading screen flickers on the black background constantly).

And ofc checking task manager shows the GPU at 0% after the game resumes in this unplayable state. Like the other cases mentioned in the other thread the starsector.log file is pretty unhelpful and the windows event viewer even more so (Fault bucket type 0 LiveKernelEvent); Unlike some of the other cases though this happened in basically a pause menu screen (deri salvage inv) not even 2 minutes in---so it is highly unlikely this is being caused by overheating or anything hardware related.

[My specs: i7 1065g7; Intel Iris Plus G7; 8Gb RAM]

Like others have mentioned after getting away with 4 hours when making this 30 FPS cap change, once this 'graphics crash' happens just once, you'll be lucky to get out 2 minutes before it happens again.

Has anyone definitively found out why this happens or if there is a way to fix this?
Any info/help would be appreciated.

edit - tried to recreate the menu graphics crash after it happened twice in a row early on (after loading in):
And weirdly there wasn't a crash early on this time (while savaging a bunch of deri)...
