I keep forgetting that a lot of people still have to deal with download speeds I haven't seen since I was still in school. Probably worse then that.
In far more places than you'd realize, definitely worse.
Life stinks when one is firmly mired well within
sub-megabit speed territory. Or, God forbid, dial-up (which, incredibly, is all that far too many folks have available). I've already caused problems for myself by downloading too many game mods (Starfarer and others) this last month - even though none of them would be considered "huge" by the younger set - and have to be very economical for the rest of this billing period. I kinda assumed that by the time I would be this age, this "cool new online stuff" would have attained a more even level of quality, robustness and affordability across the globe, but that turned out
not to be the case.
It makes one very reluctant to download much of
anything one's not truly committed to, because that can become a noticeable chunk of one's monthly allotment, and also a venture which routinely takes several hours to finish. Assuming the craptastic line quality doesn't kill my d/l in the middle (thanks, undermaintained old copper telephone lines).
Sorry for the minor threadjacking, mate. So:
Not all emotions are silly on the internet.
And thanks again (truly) for the new preview images.
