Incorrect monitor signal on Linux Ubuntu 20.04.
« on: June 21, 2020, 06:41:26 PM »

Howdy! I was trying out Starsector on Linux Ubuntu 20.04.

When launching, my monitor blacks out, and I receive and error message that it is not receiving a 1920x1200@60hz signal. When I unplug the HDMI cord, and plug it back in, it begins working correctly and the Starsector main menu is displayed.

If I quit, I again have to unplug my monitor and plug it back in for my desktop to show properly.

I'm running Starsector on Ubuntu 20.04, with a GTX 680 2GB model with the nvidia-440 drivers. My monitor is a dell U2410.

Hi! This looks like hardware specific drivers/videocard issue on your machine.

I play this game on Linux Mint 20, with amd R9 290 card and default opensource driver, and it works fine (except occasional FPS drops)

Are you using HDMI audio by chance? Monitor will blank then mute audio signal is received via HDMI. This is supposedly fixed in latest drivers so maybe this is not the case here. Try to disable HDMI audio output in sound settings.
