When salvaging, Take All button should not pick up too much Fuel
« on: February 11, 2020, 11:43:56 AM »

I found a mining station while exploring, and it had some 30 things to pick up or so.

That's too much clicking, to pick them up one by one. But fortunately, there is a Take All button.

Unfortunately, it literally takes EVERYTHING, even the excess fuel you don't need.

My suggestion: change the Take All behavior to grab everything EXCEPT to only grab fuel up to your maximum fuel stores. If you really want to grab the extra fuel, you can do it manually with one click.

Maybe have clicking "Take All" the first time fill up your inventory fuel, then have clicking it again actually take everything?

I wish there was a more in-your-face indicator that you're over your capacity since the penalties get pretty huge pretty fast when you have a large fleet.

I think the point is though, if you have to do this just about EVERY time you salvage, why not automate it? The logic behind it is easy to implement and helps the player speed up something that is very repetitive.

I would like this. There's occasionally a use for taking fuel over capacity, but its a bit of a niche situation.

I'd rather the button do exactly as it says and take everything, otherwise things start to get muddy for people who haven't played as much.

It would be nice for the cargo display to flash a warning when it's over capacity. That red "overcapacity" bar doesn't have to be visible to have a disastrous impact on your fleet.

It'd also be nice for the "loot all" button to be a less aggressive "max out inventory" button. There is practically no legitimate reason to go over inventory cap, as the penalties vastly outweigh the benefits. Would you prefer to spend 3 extra supplies/day to hold 50 extra metal? Forget it, you lose everything it was worth in 3 days. For the very FEW situations where a player might profit (such as you only have 25 inventory space, but you need to hold 30 synchrotron cores, oh no!) the player has no problem with forcing extra loot into their inventory.

Part of the trouble with looting is due to the fact that every loot operation is really more like 2-5 loots performed back to back. One minor annoyance with loot gets multiplied multiple times, making it seem far worse. I think that's going away in the next version, so you get one GOOD loot attempt and that's it.

This. Take All needs to Take All. Extra buttons that do different things? Sure.
