Hi,

I have a 27" 4K monitor and when I run the game (1920x1080) it only displays in the top left corner of the screen. I can't move the cursor out of that area and the rest of the screen displays the desktop.

Specs: Windows 10, Ryzen 2700, Vega 56, 16GB ram

I tried the solution in this topic but it didn't work:

I also edited the config.json to be able to select 4K resolution but there is no UI scaling so the text is waaay to small.

Hi - sorry about the trouble! I'm guessing you mean that the bit with the NVIDIA control panel didn't work, right? Is so: can you try the steps here?

I'm actually having a similar issue but can sort of self resolve it. By tweaking my Nvidia control panel I can reduce my screen resolution to match the 1920x1080 for the launchers highest resolution option, but as soon as I reduce my screen from 4k to 1080p the options tab for the Starsector launcher resolution adds support all the way up to 4096x2160, and when I increase my screen back to 4k it caps the options back at 1920x1080. Am I missing something? Can i play this game in 4k or do i have to stick with 1080p?

You *can* technically play it in 4k but the UI and fonts will be tiny and the battle screen will be too zoomed out, so I'd suggest 1080p. The next release will have UI scaling, so you'll be able to play in 4k comfortably.

okay, that's good to know. but my issue is more with the launcher. when im in 1080p display it gives me resolution options for all the way up to 4k, but when im in 4k display the options cap at 1920x 1080 (technically 1920x1440 but that resolution doesnt fit my screen) im not sure how to fix that.

Hmm - I'm not sure what the issue is that that's causing, as it seems like you should be able to select the resolution you want, no?

Should, but it locks the higher resolution options in the launcher when I'm at higher resolutions and only unlocks them when I'm at 1080p. I tried launching the game in at 4k while my display was at 1080p then upscaling my display back to 4k but it acts like im still at 1080p and only shows the lower left corner of the menu screen once launched. is there any way we could get a resolution adjustment option in game in the future instead of only in the launcher? it would be nice to change resolution in game. For now I can just rock 1080p I just wanted to see if I was the only one having this issue and/or if something could be resolved.

Ah, you're trying to run in 4k? I wouldn't recommend it due to tiny UI, text, and other issues. However, if you really want to, you can edit data/config/settings.json and change the... "4kThreshold" value, I believe it is - set it to something like 10000 and you should see all resolutions in the list regardless.

Thank you, that fixed it. the threshold is normally set to 3600 and my screen is set to 3840x2160. my benefit is I'm playing on a 43" 4K TV as my moniter so the sheer size of my screen more or less negates the tiny text. i appreciate you working with me on this issue and giving me your time.
