The Hyperion Cantos inspiration

Hi, I've been reading the Hyperion Cantos lately and I wondered. How much has the Cantos inspired this game?

Fall of the portals ("the farcasters")
Runaway AI (techno core)

Or am I making links that don't exist?

hey thx for the find i will probably try to read it too i like star sector setting, and i do hope one day there will be a full story campaign
