Colony automation

After getting to many planets I decided to grant some of them autonomy (I think it’s a nexerellin thing) but when I checked how they were doing after a while they hadn’t done anything.

So I’m wondering if maybe I’m doing something wrong or if there is a mod out there to make colonies with autonomy actually work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated
