Why would it make sense to not be able to put none-drone fighters on Scintilla?

Fighters of the Scintilla come out of the same standardized LPC factory as fighters anywhere in the sector, so Scintilla will have no trouble making manned fighters. Sure the ships don't have places for the crew to live for weeks at a time, but if it were only a couple of pilots for a 12 hour shift during battle, they could just huddle in the corners of the fighter bay or something.

It wouldn't even have to be to the extent of "Additional Berths" because they are there for less than a day, so no need for beds or food or entertainments and stuff like that. It'd only have to be a small ready room and a bathroom.

In 0.91a, Scintilla does accept normal fighters if you edit the save to give yourself Remnant ships.

I'd be surprised if the automated ships even have any life support systems to begin with, so you'd have to somehow cram a life support chamber in there.
Hm, make that a hullmod somewhat like converted hanger perhaps?

It would only be crewed during combat, so it only needs a short term life support, not a long term one. It will be drastically smaller. An example would be like what's on the Apollo Command Capsule, bottled air, bottled water, dried biscuits, co2 absorption box etc, good for 3 days max. Probably fits in a 1-meter cube.

Why would you possibly mount fighters on a Scintilla when you can have 8 (eight) salamanders instead?

Cuz, Sabots from Longbow also do EMP damage, and reload faster than Salamanders

There is no instead. You can do both if you want to, if all the stats will remain the same.

If all you want to do is spam Salamanders anyways, the Mercury is better and will be much more available.
