Auto-Resolve Mechanics
« on: March 14, 2012, 11:17:31 AM »

Anybody who uses my mod (Scrappers) might be aware, there seems to be a problem where the Sparrow ships seem to be considered overwhelmingly powerful in auto-resolve.

I'm at a complete loss, any help or guidance from someone who knows anything about how auto-resolve works, would be greatly appreciated. I believe it is only the Sparrow, which is statistically similar to the Talon, though with a better weapon and 5 in the group. Any ideas?

The only thing I know of is that you use lots of kinetic tech, so the fighters are able to overwhelm shields pretty ridiculously fast. I've seen other ridiculous things happen in autoresolve with fighters, though. Starting to wonder if something is just broken with fighters there?

That's a good thought, I'll try a few types on the gun they use and see if that changes anything.

Upgrade, you having fighter issues too? :P

Well, if you count "issues" as having a single reaver wing (my fighter) destroying both a tritach battlefleet and then proceeding to chase the hegemony SDF, which by the way are running like chickens, and then utterly obliterating every single ship in the fleet, then yes, i'm having "issues" :D

Did you happen to give it any hull mods?

Not a single one. Not even a modded weapon.

Hrm... Because the only thing special about the Sparrow was they had the Integrated Point Defense AI mod, as a bit of a test. I never got around to removing it, wondering if that somehow causes problems.

Yeah I'm not kidding when I say I've seen a half-dead broadsword wing take out entire fleets of mine before.

I just figured my fleet could take out the stupid thing. Now I don't bother with autoresolve anymore...  Unless it's a buffalo. Except that those are so fun to be mean to, haha.

Try giving it a mix of different weapons and see if its the same then try tweaking its hull/armor values--i think its the weapons though considering you use unique weapons.
