[0.9.1a RC8] Ship AI sometimes fails to update orders

In this screenshot, I earlier had an Eliminate order on the destroyer indicated by the red arrow. I cancelled it, and everyone fell back to the Defend order, except the SO Enforcer (XIV) shown which continues pursuing the target. This apparently persisted until the target was destroyed or retreated (didn't see which).
Officer personality was Aggressive

I've encountered at least one other case of a ship ignoring orders which might have been this bug, but I don't remember for certain.

Thanks for the report! This is probably a "couldn't figure out a way to disengage safely" kind of issue, but I'll keep an eye out.

Encountered another case, this time with what should be a clear line of escape even if not in the new order's direction (and a reverse-capable mobility ship system to do it with):

(Yeah, probably still the same thing... what looks clear to a human and to the AI are quite a bit different, and that bit of the logic is... let's say not super polished.)

Sorry about the trouble! You're not trying to post something with non-ASCII characters, are you? The forum doesn't support that, IIRC, and the database error I'm seeing is complaining "incorrect string values" being posted, with some unicode characters:

(Incorrect string value: '\xEF\xBC\x88But...' for column 'body' at row 1)
