Help requested finding a mod
« on: April 29, 2019, 05:13:02 PM »

Forgive the possibly noobish request, but I've not been on a legit forum in... a while.

I found out about this game through a comment on some old Deviant Art page related to another great game I've played a LOT:

This lead to this image:
I know this mod existed and was playable at some point, there is a LP of it on YT:

Needless to say, I like this ship list a lot and this game looks very fun too. I'd like to get into it - however, no offence to the original game devs, I'd love to play with this ship mod, New Galactic Order. I've done searches and dug around for over 2 hours now and I can't find the original mod DL, though it has loads and loads of references all over the forum. It's not in the official mod list either, from what I can see.

So in short, can you help me find this mod's DL option, assuming it still exists? I would greatly appreciate that.

Thanks in advance,
Terenin.

That mod was removed from the forum for many things. Mainly the NeoNazi symbolism, glorification and the mod author stepped out of bounds too many times... Caused too much controversy so after giving the modder many chances, he was banned and the mod was removed from the forums

To be fair, there's things in just the base game that touch on similar areas.

Personal behavior aside, it does feel a bit of a double-standard.

It's also against the forum rules, so: yes, indeed.

While building a full faction mod is a lot of work, if all you want is to play with those ships, it should be relatively straightforward to build a mod that just adds a few specific player-only hulls to the game.

Sounds like there was a lot of drama that I missed. I guess the communist-esque mod I noticed earlier was purged as well? Regardless, though I saw no "Nazi" like symbolism in a roundish black/white/red colours-theme, one has to wonder...

How would anyone go about doing this, if we don't have the base files for the ship-sets? You are right making a ship-set swap or cloning from an already existing set might be straight-forward, (Though I have personally never made a mod, surely not for this game) but without the original files we got nothing.

Thanks for answering the question though, just my luck the one ship-set I liked got purged. :'(

I'll take that as a "no" then. There are other mods out there and a solid vanilla game to boot. 'll find something to have fun with in spite of things.

Thank you for your time. o7
