Will "Edit Variants" ever work?

I mean... I like that it's a thing; it just seems so nice and convenient to do balance passes there, save and test.  I just wish it worked over here, where it appears to do nothing.

IIRC it may work if you put variants in this folder:

StarfarerSettings.getSavesDirectory() + "/../../starfarer.res/res/data/variants/


"StarfarerSettings.getSavesDirectory()" being the saves folder.

Alex, I think he thinks it is busted as it creates a new folder at the same level as the SS root folder. IE in the Fractal Softworks folder. Said folder name is starfarer.res

So it goes like this:
Fractal Softworks/starsector/(main SS data files)
                         /starfarer.res (newly created variants)

Right, yeah - it's hardcoded to work with the paths in the dev environment. But if one wants to use it to edit their variants, they can mimic the paths, is all I'm saying... not that it's necessarily even a good idea or useful.

Ah, right.  Don't want to mess with the Saves directory, I think.  It just seems so handy, vs. the current process in SSEd.  That may be the right place to ask for things to get improved :)

Well, put your empty variant on a mission, then edit it, when you will exit, he will save it on the folder save/missions,  this is maybe not so fast, but do not need to be on devmode for that ^^.
