Has anyone seriously tried to colonize the entire sector?
« on: April 17, 2019, 08:13:26 AM »

Or at least in all unclaimed systems?

Obviously, in an unmodded game, this requires many alpha cores, which probably means some dedicated grinding of Remnants to get theoretically unlimited alpha core drops.  (I remember an image some time back where someone colonized the entire Penelope's Star system and had numerous cores installed on every planet.)  I have not even attempted this due to the grinding that is likely required.

One of the reasons why I do not use cores is because I do not want to deal with Hegemony, even if they can be bribed away while player still makes a profit after bribe.  It occurred to me that if I eradicate Hegemony from the sector (or at least decivilize all of their military and heavy industry), then Hegemony cannot (or should not) carry out inspections.  Any income lost from destroying Hegemony should be more than made up if I have far more colonies than a colony-spec character can govern.  Since alphas are effectively max skill colony character, player with a very long-term goal can ignore the colony skills and max out combat power.

Pathers will be Pathers, being angry just for having nice things (like good industries and synchrotron).

I wonder if the whole sector gets colonized by alpha-abusing player, then what happens to pop-up pirate and pather bases if they have nowhere to spawn?

I think Thaago did a while back, but I can't find the thread at the moment.

It was SCC: http://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=14737  :)

They'll spawn in "empty" systems, i.e. ones with only a primary star and no planets, which can't be colonized.

Yup, not me! :D

I was very impressed by SCCs run, and even more impressed that the performance didn't suffer much at all from so many colonies.

I didn't really go all the way. At 313 colonies I gave up, feeling that there's not much point. You can't colonise every star system anyway, since some of them outright lack planets to colonise, and even with all these colonies there was no change in pirate and pather activity. It was a massive money maker, though, 4-5 million bucks a month even without cores.

A normal size sector has between 500 and 650 planets in procgen systems, so that's more than half of them already!!! Impressive.

@SCC how did you accomplish it at lv 7? The post said you got all those colonies legit? But how did you obtain the cores legit without fighting?

There are many planets in the core alone, I doubt I have colonised even a half of procgen planets. Northern half of the sector was basically untouched before I got bored.

You will realise it in due time.

I never tried to colonise "every" planet, but Nex games I tried a few times to colonise every habitable world in the sector (dropping excess worlds to independents when reaching size 5-6).

It's kinda fun to see the sector slowly recivilise, even if there's no real consequences.
