weapon attacking priority setting
« on: December 24, 2018, 06:07:18 AM »

I think it is stupid to use tachyon lance to attack a fighter 'cause its turn rate is too slow to capture the fighter, but ai ships always do so.
what's more, auto weapons often use hellbore cannon whose projectile velocity is very slow to shoot on fighters, which is a big waste.
And sometimes, point defense weapon will waste time attacking ships resulting in missing missiles.
So I think it is better to add a setting in weapon group in which players can decide each weapon's attacking priority, such as
1?default
2?give priority to attack ships (it only attacks fighters and missiles when there are no ships in range)
3?give priority to attack fighters and missiles (it only attacks ships when there are no fighters and missile in range)
4?only attack ships
5?only attack fighters

Further more, weapon setting can be more detailed. For example, when it comes to attacking ships, players can decide one weapon to attack bigger ships first (if there is a cruiser in range, it won't attack destroyer), or attack smaller ships first, or attack ships with the same rank as its(destroyers attack destroyers first).

Agreed, I'd also like something to prevent shooting at shields / armour altogether so no wasted flux here. The AI sort of does this already with a few weapons but not that many.
