Pirate swarm out in the middle of nowhere
« on: December 19, 2018, 10:00:42 PM »

Just ran into around 220 pirate ships out in hyperspace away from the core. Any ideas what they could have been doing out there? On their way to raid somewhere maybe?

Probably on their way to or back from a raid in the core systems.  Pirate Bases can be a ways out.

Pirate bases in Outer Rim are actually generating raid fleets and they are traveling to their destination.

Huh.  I just ran into pretty much the exact same thing.  Feels like that's more ships than ought to be involved in any one raid.

[Edit] Actually wrote a PM to Alex about this; the response is that it's not a bug, but that he's made changes for 0.9.1 to cut down on the size of expeditions "while preserving their power".  Maybe that means we'll see a pirate capital ship of some sort?  One can hope!
