It would be interesting if factions that really dislike you would put out contracts to destroy you -- sort of similar to how the factions send raids to your colonies.

You could be notified that a faction has placed a bounty on you and that some mercenary company has picked it up.  There could then be a chance that a mercenary fleet (larger/more powerful than yours) is generated when you jump into a system and will hunt you down.  If you're able to defeat it or able to avoid it for XX days, then the bounty goes away.

But on the topic of bounty hunter, how about the option to join up with a group of bounty hunters to tackle bigger bounties?

Basically hail a group of bounty hunters and offer a joined hunt. You follow their fleet (or they follow yours) to a bounty and both attack, and you split the reward, based on the number of ships deployed.
If you don't join in the fight, you get no money and your rep with the bounty hunter group goes down.

NEX mod had a thing where when factions hate you enough after you bullied them too much they will send murder fleets after you, which is good because its basically 0.9 expedition fleets but for you specifically.

Unless the reputation system is improved, this would make it literally impossible to restore good relations because you'd keep on getting forced reputation drops.

You say that but you can kill expedition fleets no problem without penalties. Unless Im mistaken somehow.
