[0.9A RC10] Error loading save, NO MODS

This is quite depressing , I spent over 50 hours of gameplay in this.. any way to restore it ? :(
I didn't install any mod...

The game DID ran into some unusualy behaviour before that...
I kept the shift key pressed for some time and received the annoying "Sticky" key notification with the weird blip sound.
I alt-tabbed to turn it off and noticed my media player also got some error on a skipped song.
I didn't pay attention to those and quickly return to my game session.

After about 5 minutes of gameplay where things turned ill (ran into a huge pirate fleet).
I exit the game like a coward and tried to load the latest save... and error ... :/

for some reason the log file is over 20MB, I had to archive it and still was too large to attach it.

Ahh, my apologies! I believe this issue should be fixed for the next (0.9.1a) release.

In the meantime, there should be a pair of .bak files in the save folder, which you might be able to use to get back to the last time you saved before that, provided that loads.

To do this, you would either move or delete these two files in your save folder:
descriptor.xml
campaign.xml

And would then rename the following files:
descriptor.xml.bak -> descriptor.xml
campaign.xml.bak -> campaign.xml

Whew! Glad to hear that.

Note that it might get stuck in the same state again, so I would recommend:
1) Making a "save copy" from the campaign menu, and
2) Doing something quite different from what you did last time around, or it seems likely you might end up in the same state

I guess the only reason it happened was because of those
annoying sticky keys that made me alt-tab... the game was running fine and dandy before that happened

Sticky keys are definitely not the reason, unfortunately.

(Btw, you can turn those off if you want - I'm sure they're useful for some people, but personally, turning them off is one of the first things I do with a computer...)
