Distress call from a system with no planets
« on: November 27, 2018, 03:46:38 AM »

If there's no planets, can the game forget to spawn a fleet for a distress call?
I was right next to a system a distress call came from, and the system was nothing but a red dwarf so a couple of active sensor bursts were all I needed to verify the system was empty other than a single derelict.
Pirate ambush fleets ignore my fleet due to repuation, so it wasn't a fleeing ambush.

Also, another distress call bug: Fleets can ask for like, half a day's worth of fuel when they're in the middle of nowhere.

Sometimes a distress call just spawns a derelict.

They're supposed to ask for a quantity relative to their distance from core and their own fuel consumption. Looking at the code, hmm, it seems correct, but I'll check it out.

Sometimes a distress call just spawns a derelict.
It doesn't take response time or enemy presence into account at all.
And it's not sometimes spawns a derelict, it's almost always if it's a legitimate distress call.
I've probably answered around 10 distress calls, a few have been pirate ambushes and only one has had an actual living fleet.

It's 25% real, 25% derelict, and 25% each for two different pirate ambush flavors. If you'd like to discuss this further, let's talk about it in Suggestions (or wherever is suitable); since it doesn't look like there's a bug here.

I've never seen a distress call request a reasonable amount of fuel. Always just 10.

Though in case the did, payout needs to scale too. 3 indy rep is not much.

Ahh. Right. Yes, fixed that up. Turns out the calculation was theoretically right, but it was being force-set to 10 elsewhere, probably old debug code left in by accident :)

Indy rep is wack in general.
Saved a fleet? 3 rep.
Blew up a smuggler fleet with your transponder off and no witnesses or survivors? -5 rep.
Traded with pirates with your transponder on? -6 rep.

(Moved this to Suggestions, as I said earlier, Bug Reports is not the place for tangential discussions. Edit: I'd really appreciate a bit more consideration about what gets posted there vs elsewhere, it really does make a difference for me.)
