Under Colony Info on the right. If you hover your mouse over supplies, or something else, you'll see a bunch of useful info. What does it mean by 'Maximum Demand: 2'

My understanding is that it's simply the single building in the colony with the greatest demand.

Yes. For some reason if you have a building that demands 3 food and another 4, you only need 4 delivered and it supplies both.

Supply and demand in this model are logarithmic just like the population numbers are. Its not perfect but I kind of like it because I don't want to play an economy simulator.
