I need a Development Post please.
« on: July 30, 2018, 09:18:15 AM »

If the game is several months away from .9 then could we please get a development post on what has been happening. Normally there about a month apart and now it's been a month in a half. I'm just so excited to play that I need something to read to help with my fixation. Thanks Alex! ;)

I'll need to figure something out; the stuff I'm working on is content that I don't particularly want to spoil, so it's a bit of a quandary :)

I'd rather have Alex just work on the update... It takes long enough as it is.

Look at his twitter for hints, apparently tech mining on ruined planets is a thing.

I would love an art blog post by David if he has the time!

This has been known for some time as it was in the patch notes.

I'm hoping his delay on a blog post means we are close to a 0.9a release and he's just holdin out to just go for that.  OH MAN, I'm so so excited!

I'm usually pretty hyped about new version too, but worst part for me are mods, which give this extra spice to vanilla. I cannot imagine, or enjoy game without familiar ships, factions, events and etc that grew on me already. And post update it can take unbelievable amounts of time for mods to update, while it can add up extra headache for authors, considering how extensive and how many new features new versions bring.

Judging by info so far, 0.9 must be the biggest one yet, so I'm gonna be stuck with 0.8 for the whole year or two still. Couple of mods I really-really like haven't been updated to 0.8 yet, so there goes the fun... It's all kinda super-exciting but still can be quite frustrating.

Seriously, whole case about SS is some kind of exercise (or rather torture) in patience.  :-X

I reckon a lot of modders are waiting for the game to enter at least beta before updating their mods as updating them with every version probably gets tiring.

That said, I hope we get 0.9 before the end of the year and like some of the more patient people say; if you wait for something good, you can never wait too long.

Usually if a mod hasn't updated it's due to the modder losing interest and/or lacking skills they need to update the mod the way they want.

I'm getting torn Alex.. I want to leave you be to do your mad science but I am getting desperate for the next update. You know your blog page is the only website I check every day without fail. But in the end your way of doing things properly rather then slamming out unfinished patches is the right way so I'll leave it be. Godspeed though.

Alex is pretty communicative.

Imagine being a fan of Illwinter games (Dominions, Conquest of Elysium). You hardly ever hear from them until it's done  :P
