Carrier AI was too cautious
« on: April 28, 2018, 06:46:20 PM »

They just group at the bottom of the map and chill, wont send any fighter to help frontier ships even in their battle range.

I tried to order them to go closer front line but didn't work, and "Fighter Strike" command sometimes have no effect either.

I have 4 Herons with 1*trident, 1*dagger and 1*broadsword, and an Astral doubles the fighter.

Is the problem caught by my fighter build?

IMO, carriers should be able to "suppress" a ship two tires lower, and won't be killed quickly against a ship one tire lower, in a solo close-range battle, AND AI SHOULD KNOW IT.

For example,  a CVL tire carrier like Heron should run over a frigate easily(except Hyperion), and can fight with destroyers.

It's a known AI bug if you have four or more carriers, they basically get stuck in an endless escort-each-other loop.

I think if you explicitly tell the carriers to escort something else, that should work around the AI bug. Telling them to move somewhere won't do it, but assigning them to escort something should.
