Hello there,

I just wanted to post a few things on my early opinions of Starfarer.

First of all, YES! FANTASTIC I really love what's going on here. I hope it continues to build and advance at a steady well managed pace. Good work and THANKS!

Prefaced by that, you know that the rest of below is coming from a warm place, I love what you've done. Here are a few notes of feedback I think you might like to hear from your players, I'm sure there are other mentions of what I'm about to outline here, or you've already got big plans for it. This is meant to be an early player response to what you've got. I can't see you not wanting this sort of thing even if you've already heard it, because stats count I guess.

Within the Campaign I'd like to be able to station forces at a location - I miss the days of zipping around in frigate fleets tackling slower fleets for laughs (in addition to this why do big ships necessarily have to have a slower travel speed than other ships? I fully understand that their combat speed is slower, no problems there, but as far as travel goes straight line speed is something big ships aught to do well, with all that space for engines)

Why does the orbital station run out of ships? ex: I bought most of the frigates available and they never got restocked

I'd like to be able to tell ships in the refit screen that they are part of one of the main groups (fire support - Strike etc) regardless of what weapons they're equipped with (if you can already do this then oops, sorry) so that mechanically I can have them operate to those waypoints in combat

a continue on contact rule or something similar would be nice, for example when I send a piranha bomber fleet  to go and strike an unshielded opponent I don't want them to stop for anything until they've delivered their payload, obv if you incorporate personalities for wing/ship commanders then that'd effect this.

I'd like to be able to tell certain groups to attack an area inside the fog of war with an objective to destroy an enemy ship type, like fire support or a strike group in reserve (its obvious to me when missiles are coming out of the fog of war, that there are FS ships in there, I want to be able to  send ships to find and destroy them)

I really think you need an easier command in combat for assigning a unit to attack another unit. at the cost of a command point obviously, - I know intercept of harrass works but its a cumbersome way of doing it.

I'd like to be able to specify before combat which ships/wings are preferred for light escort on other specific ships in my fleet - so If I had a Carrier and I gave light escort command to it, I want a specific fighter wing or frigate or whatever to be assigned to it as determined by me before the battle and from then on in every battle until one of them dies or I change it. (or it isn't on the field)

The last few are because I find the command within combat a little too 'hands off' I know there's an ethos for giving commands to the fleet and letting them sorting it out, but I can't fly my flagship in peace without worrying about how things are going on the other side of the map and if that warthog wing decided to leave my comm point undefended despite the fact that I told it to do exactly the opposite!

So, there's some early feedback, bear in mind this is a simple reaction to the pre-order download. just so you know what people are thinking in their first hours of play.
