PD Upgrade

Specifically since fighters are quite a bit more powerful now and are so much more sustainable than they were (functionally infinite if your enemy can outlast you), if we made weapons marked as PD capable of shooting over a friendly ship to hit fighters that are "on" it (but not past the ship to hit things behind it -- abusable), to lessen the pain of having being swarmed without actually upgrading any actual guns. Makes light pd capacity on normal ships overlap better, and makes dedicated PD platforms more viable

Don't they already do that if your own PD destroys a fighter on top of you?

Upon death check if overlapping a ship, if so set collision of wreckage to 0 until it passes empty space again. Any iffiness with fighter collisions is gotten around easily by the 2d space, you just have to be willing to abuse it lol
