kinda new... can anyone tell me what devmode does it would be a great help...

As far as I know, it allows you to edit variants in-game at the menu screen, and it lets you zoom out as much as you want in battle and on the strategic map.

In addition to that, it lets you avoid battles by pressing escape on the encounter screen, lets you give yourself money with K, lets you swap to other (even enemy) ships by ctrl-clicking on them (lmb) during battle.

Thats all I know so far.

So that's why I lost :D. I was pounding this other lasher so well with my own in the early game, and suddenly after blowing it up I notice that it was me that had just blew up :o. I think I'll need to change the commands to auto-fire again.

Have you tried text editors? If the default ones don't work, I know NotepadC++ works at opening it.

I have a devmode challenge for you all!
It could be more difficult but currently I challenge you to start with just your ship and use the "K" shortcut to obtain money and buy a wasp interceptor wing. After that find a small pirate fleet then use the ctrl click to take control of a single wasp interceptor drone and win!

i think that he means that it disables sound on the startup menu check box thingy ;) it also disables full screen...

Also, devmode allows you to gain crew experience in campaign by pressing "L".
