Unlabeled Axis

Someone says they've figured out what that graph is, but it remains non-obvious to me.  Anyone around here have any idea what we're looking at?  (Alright, aside from the obvious answer of "mathsssssssss".)

x = time
y = no. of bugs

blue = reported.
red = fixed.

Thousands of bugs? I don't know. Estimating:
f(x)=16,7x+750 (how tf did i get 25x i was momentarily drunk or god just canceled my action to make me play games or what)
g(x)=237*√x? Goddamit, it will take me a bit to sort this up. Nevermind, I need to grind maths more to complete this quest. We know it's a*(weirdroot)√x, though, so there's that.
Anyway, I'm sure it's got something to do with salvage and diminishing returns.

Hm... Actually, I think I'm going to bet it has something to do with sensor ranges?  Maybe?

Lol that was me. At first I thought I was looking at some kinda statistics graph because I had literally just woken up. But then I realized I was just looking at 2 function graphs, so normally the x-axis would be the function input value and the y-axis would be the function output value: so no real need to label the axis.

The real mystery is, what are those 2 functions?

My maths are a little rusty, but the functions look to me something like

blue(x) = 30x + 750
pink(x) = 2000 * (1-(1 / x^2))

As far as what they might mean, perhaps the x-axis is OP and y-axis is damage. Maybe the blue is a baseline for what kind of damage a weapon at a given OP should have, and the pink is some function they're trying out to determine what damage to give.

Or maybe it's about armor. The way armor interacts with damage is a similar-ish function. I have no idea though. Just throwing out blind guesses. I'm really not curious enough to dive that deep lol.
