I missed your post here!
Well now that I've found it, some feedback:
1. A good way to figure out how best to equip a ship is to look at its strengths and then pair them with the appropriate weapons. For example the Aurora: Very high flux stats and very fast closing distance, therefor it can afford flux intensive weapons at close range. Ie: Heavy Blasters, Ion Pulsers, Antimatter Blasters. Use 2-3 Ion Pulsers to quickly overwhelm shields and disable your enemy via EMP, then drop a barrage of AMBs to give them a long flux-out and make their armor disappear. Phase Lance isn't really well suited for the Aurora. Its better against armor and with HEF, but even then its measly armor penetration makes Heavy Blaster a much preferable alternative.
2. Get rid of the biggest dangers first, and that would easily be the carriers. Fighters have very long range, very fast speeds, and scary damage against lone frigates. Wolves can handle big slow ships rather well. They can't run out of fighters engagement range, however.
3. Focus Fire; concentrate your fleets firepower against single targets to bring enemies down faster and remove their ability to recover. Using a ship like the Tempest to escort you would increase your ability to finish a target.
4. I realize it's probably an unconscious habit by this point, but try to be aware of and stop yourself from pointlessly repeating sentences. It bothers some people (myself included) to the point where they won't watch your videos even if they otherwise enjoy them.
5. This one is more of a suggestion. Since you're doing missions, which are all about strategies, tactics, and overall just trying to complete them as best you can, it might be worthwhile to review your matches afterwards to figure out where you can improve and to just throw ideas around. Sadly there's no replay button but maybe taking screenshots of the overview at various points in the match would be an acceptable alternative. I've thought about doing the same myself.
Anyway, keep at it! I look forward to the next.
