I turned these off in mods\GraphicsLib\GRAPHICS_OPTIONS
"enableDistortion":false
"enablePostProcess":false

Intel HD4000 can use 1824MB and i have about 14-22 FPS in center of BIG battle.
Java can use 2-8GB RAM

i7 [email protected]
intel HD4000
16GB RAM

I would be grateful for any tips.

Why no love for AI War D= They are an awesome boss faction and the Dark Spire are always hostile, giving headaches :D

I am not sure how much it would help to totally turn off graphics lib from it's settings, but you could try that. You could always visit the general Mod Troubleshooting Guide on here and read to see what you could to to help.

I am quoting the part of it that probably interests you.

Spoiler
Quote
If your hardware meets these specifications, it could be that you're running some tougher mods.  Of particular note are the mods GraphicsLib, Starsector+, and the Knights Templar.

Starsector+: This mod increases the recommended system requirements:
  • One of:
    • 2.2 GHz Gaming Intel CPU
    • 2.6 GHz Entry Intel CPU
    • 2.6 GHz Gaming AMD CPU
    • 3.0 GHz Entry AMD CPU
  • 768 MB Video Memory
  • 6 GB System Memory (Windows)

Knights Templar: This mod adds a pair of new shaders.  Poor performance, particularly when using Templar ships or weapons, can be solved by changing options in Templars/TEMPLAR_OPTIONS.ini to disable Templar-specific effects.

GraphicsLib: This mod's default settings increase the recommended system requirements:
  • One of:
    • 2.2 GHz Gaming Intel CPU
    • 2.6 GHz Entry Intel CPU
    • 2.6 GHz Gaming AMD CPU
    • 3.0 GHz Entry AMD CPU
  • One of:
    • Mid-range NVidia GTX 4xx card or better
    • Mid-range AMD HD 6xxx card or better
    • Intel HD 6000 or better
  • 1 GB Video Memory
  • 6 GB System Memory (Windows)

In order to improve GraphicsLib performance, follow the following step-by-step guide by editing the GRAPHICS_OPTIONS.ini file within the GraphicsLib folder in a program like Notepad++.  After each step, check to see if performance is improved enough:
1. Set "use64BitBuffer":true.  This is known to cause odd performance issues.
2. Set "use64BitBuffer":false.  Yes, toggle it back off.  People have reported better performance with this enabled, and others have reported better performance with this disabled.
3. Set "enablePostProcess":false.  This will disable post-processing effects, which are fortunately not used in many situations.
4. Set "enableBloom":false.  This disables the HDR bloom effect in the lighting engine, which is a fairly expensive subsystem.
5. Set "enableDistortion":false.  This disables distortion effects, which can be hard on certain graphics cards.
6. Set "extraScreenClear":false.  Turning this off can't hurt performance.
7. Set "enableNormal":false.  Turning this off will significantly reduce lighting quality; however, it will load a simplified lighting shader that could improve performance.
8. Set "enableShaders":false.  This completely disables all GraphicsLib functionality, but remains compatible with mods that require GraphicsLib.  If you still have problems at this point, then GraphicsLib is not at fault.

@Linnis
You know, two months after I built my first computer (mid last year), I was about to turn off my computer for the night when it just up and shutdown by itself.  I was suspicious, so I turned it on again when all of a sudden, I smell burning electronics and see smoke billowing out of my computer.  For some totally random reason (which I still haven't found), both my motherboard and my GTX1070 decided to fry themselves.  Totally unrecoverable, skid marks everywhere and more than a few melted transistors (ah, memories from my Electronics elective in high school...).  Gigabyte were totally useless, their customer support just says "oh look, you have a problem?  we'll redirect you a dozen times" and I never got anything from them.  EVGA on the other hand are gods - I explained the situation to them in one message and they gave me a completely free replacement with 3-day shipping.

That sounds like a *** power supply. I always recommend atleast drop 500usd on a powersupply. It is whats going keep all your stuff running forever. Aside from that AMD graphics card that finally burned itself after five years of being over clocked. But baking it did fix it. Used it for six months but decided to get a new card anyways.

That sounds like a bad reaction to have.

Well, considering the cause of the problem was a production fault with the EVGA GPU (just google "EVGA gpu overheat" or something and you'll find plenty of articles I'm sure), they really didn't have much of a choice.

You don't have to spend 500 bucks.. I paid 60 for my Seasonic. Just make sure it's a good brand. Enermax, Seasonic etc. and the brands they build parts for. And make sure the capacitors (!) in there are high quality. As soon as the warranty period runs out, open that sucker up and check for bloated caps. If you find any, replace ASAP.

Yes, the PSU is the most critical part of a system and often a time bomb.

I will try the oven method.I have nothing to lose.

about the PSU ... my 620W Seasonic used to run [email protected]+5870OC which use WAAAAAAAAY more power than i7 3770k+GTX970.
No need to replace PSU until i move to new socket.

You know, you're probably right, but I don't think that would have changed anything come next morning when I turned it on.

As for the overheat - the graphics card had been doing nothing strenuous for the 4 hours before I shut down, just videos and browsing the web.  It had also performed flawlessly the past couple of months when I played The Witcher 3, BF1, Shadow of Mordor, and various other demanding games, tempterature didn't go above reasonable levels (around 70 C) even after playing those for hours on end.  Still no idea what to blame, or maybe it was just me not taking good enough care of it, since it was my first desktop.

Yeah sorry, it was late and I was thinking in an different currency. Yeah, 60-100$ for a good PSU.

I have little knowledge on PSUs. I had in the past an Enermax 550 and now it has been using a Thermaltake 750 bronze for many many years. Whatever I will do I always want at least bronze, to feel sure it has the 80%. I do not care much to have too many wattage, since I will never use more than one GPU, but I know quality PSU can really take the user long. I also like to have at least +30% over the watt my machine needs, to cover up for age that slowly probably lowers efficiency. Nowadays you see GPUs and CPUs that when they overclock can absorb a LOT of power. I like te thought my power supply is having it easy and is not pushing itself no matter what.

Yes, the PSU is the most critical part of a system and often a time bomb.

Not the thrust of this thread, but I too want to emphasize this point. In all the years I've been a tech, the only component I've seen more problems with is the traditional spinning-disc hard drive. Size it right, buy good quality, and always use a surge protection power strip (or, if your electricity supply can be dicey in eg thunderstorms, a decent UPS), and it will serve you well.

I'd say forget the Surge Strip and go full UPS (Uninterupted Power Supply. AKA Battery Backup) as you can get low level over/ under-voltages that can damage and destroy electronics easily. Even ones you can not see. And the UPS and detect and filter them out, saving your electronics. They also have non battery outlets that still have surge suppression built in so your stuff is always protected
But yes, absolutely get a surge strip at the bare minimum but I'd suggest a UPS instead.

Blame EVGA for not build-in thermal pads on VRM's on first place :D  So poor thing (VRM section) was going over 100C for months no wonder why it gave up. You didnt know that EVGA was sending free thermal pads and if you brake your card while putting them on they would send you new one?

And to be fair*, they should send you new MoBo too.

*unless something other (psu) didn't fry them.
