If and when mining is added to the game, mining lasers might also mine!

That in itself potentially carves a valid niche for it, though I admit it is contingent on a feature that we don't know too much about yet.

This argument could also apply to some of the other mining or utility weapons.


Back on topic:

I like playing with a beam color alteration mod, because I also have the problem that many incoming beams are blueish, and I have no idea which is which.  I used to be able to tell what the phase beam was, but I think it changed? Was the Tachyon lance also more purple once upon a time?

It's probably been mentioned already, but having frag rounds be red and HE rounds be pale yellow (and then having the opposite for the damage type icons) is really weird.

If you really want to keep frag rounds red in-game, why not make the frag icon red and the high explosive icon yellow?

Making frag yellow and HE red in game would be my preferred change though unless there are other strong reasons against it, as red has all those associative danger triggers and indeed it's usually HE shells that I really, really want to block.
