Id like to be able to see the system map from hyperspace
« on: December 10, 2015, 03:56:32 AM »

So I can jump into the closest location without having to remember layouts.

I have "fixed" this issue by making a save just before entering, so I can load the game when I warp really far from anything else.
It would be cool if there were searchable wiki articles of the systems with a map.

Wiki won't help, unless you are willing to match the date and rotation cycle to produce a current system map. Might feel like a real navigator tho.

No need to save and reload—just jump in at the fringe, have a look around, jump out, and jump back in wherever's closest. It only costs you a couple fuel.

I don't know about a map (which would be nice), but I think Alex is adding a list to the jump dialog that tells you how close each station/moon/planet is to your jump point.

It kinda maybe makes sense that space-time should be distorted around gravity wells (as per gas giants giving entry points to a system) so planets could manifest as slight dimples in the hyperspace map.

I think the issue is covered with this: http://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=10089.0

A map might look nicer than a list, but its also less clear when it comes to close formations of planets/moons/stations, i.e. you might have to search for your target longer. And its more UI work of course.

e/ Actually, I'll close here, we don't need two of these threads.

The game was completed 8 years ago and we get a free expansion every year.

Arranging holidays in an embrace with the Starsector is priceless.
