Pick "Add a Non-Steam game to My Library..." under "Games" on the main menu.
Then right-click the game in the Library's tiled view and pick "Set Custom Image...".
I'm no artist so this is only cut & paste, but I like it better than the couple I found.
I think it could look better with some in-game ship sprites engaged in battle as the background, so feel free to edit your own version:
