Hey,

(Yes, another thread by me, sorry again, but I'm loving this patch and playing a lot. :D)

I found another dealer, and was able to order a Paragon. It will arrive in 60 days as usual.

My current Paragon has 4 Tachyon Lances, 4 Phase Lances, the usual "sniper" (or disco) loadout.

Now, I want to try something else. I've tried 4 HILs and 4 Autopulses before, but I really prefer the Lances overall. That being said, my loadouts probably weren't optimized that well for those weapons, so if you want me to retry those with a correct loadout, I can do that too!

What should I try? The only condition I have is: No splitting on large energy mounts, it has to be the same 4 weapons!

I'm very likely to be piloting the ship as opposed to leaving it to the AI, mostly because I ran out of officer slots.

General Discussion / My Dominator is completely useless.

Hey,

I'm using this loadout for my Dominator. I think it's the most generic you could possibly use, it's a slightly modified default variant one.

However, this loadout, even with an officer (steady)... Is just completely useless.

I always deploy at least one Onslaught during combat. I then set the Dominator to escort it. But this is what happens afterwards:

The Dominator keeps switching targets constantly, never getting any damage done, never, ever uses its Reapers, and eventually gets flanked, engines die, and it's a slow and painful death for it.

It used to work in previous versions, but something probably has changed since then. Because of this I don't deploy it anymore, my Apogee or Eagle are much better picks because at least they do something.

Not sure if it's the loadout or my orders or something else. :-\

Hey,

Another advice thread from me! Sorry for creating so many but since things changed a lot for some ships I'd rather ask here than make a mistake.

What do you think would be the best choices for built-in hullmods for this loadout?

PS: If you think I should change some stuff don't hesitate. That's my go-to loadout but it may not be optimal at all. It gets things done in combat but there's probably better.

Hey,

Just built Heavy Industry on my best colony, the problem is... It didn't change anything regarding my fleet composition.

Prioritizing hulls doesn't change anything either.

What am I doing wrong here?

General Discussion / New ships blueprints and dealers availability.

Hey,

I saw 3 different ship / weapon / fighter dealers, but every time they didn't have the new ships available. I'm assuming this is done on purpose to keep them rare.

However I'm wondering if you can find blueprints for them while exploring.

Have you found any?

The Astral you see on the left fired an incredible amount of missiles into debris, because an enemy ship was behind it.

Said I'd create a thread once the ship arrived so here it is!

This is my current loadout:

Probably pretty bad, but I'm not used to carriers in general. I rarely use them. Although the Astral has so many bays it should be useful in any fleet I think.

What do you usually use in an Astral? Do you mix fighters or just spam one type? And if so, which one? I currently have 6 Tridents, and 6 Longbows.

Also important: Since officers don't have carrier skills anymore, is it completely useless to put one into a carrier, even a capital?

Hey,

Got my hands on a Paragon in my current run through a dealer.

Since the "meta" has changed a bit since last time I posted my loadout (here: https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=14789.0), I wanted to get your advice on which hullmods to use, and more importantly, which ones to build into the hull.

I was thinking of building the gyros mod because of the added damage to smaller ships. With this I would pretty much decimate anything that isn't a capital. But before I do that I wanted to hear your opinion about it.

General Discussion / Lucky Cryosleeper near the Core Worlds.

Hey,

Used the colony scanning tool (thanks for that again by the way), to find a second suitable colony site.

I picked one near the Core Worlds, except when I arrived in the system, I also found a Cryosleeper. :D

Hey,

Found a planet with vast ruins in Penelope's Star, so it would be easy to babysit.

However the planet doesn't have anything other than those ruins.

Is it still worth it to build a colony here to explore the ruins?

Hey,

Just noticed that simply buying like 4-5 weapons already sets the suspicion level to medium.

Previously I could get away with buying 1-2 hullmods, some weapons, supplies and fuel and it would still be minimal.

I know buying at the normal market reduces the level but you need to buy a LOT of stuff for it to go down now.

Anybody noticed the same thing? Vanilla.

Hey,

I normally don't like cheating but I had a pretty good save prior to the patch dropping.

In the update thread I said I wouldn't install the update right now but who was I kidding, of course I will.

So my question is this:

Where do I find the value used for money in a save file? I'd like to start the run with say... 10m, just to quickly get back to where I was. Although, getting that Paragon won't be that easy I bet.

I know about the console command mod, but knowing myself, if I can spawn anything anytime I want, I will abuse it. So I'd rather not install anything.

I know the money is stored as a value somewhere within that massive save file, I just need some help finding it.

Edit: Alright. If I search for the exact value of money I have in my current save, I do find it. But... There's kind of an issue. Look at this:

There are two different values. Above my current credits is something else.

Also my current money value is somewhere else within that file, alone this time. Is it the one used? Or is it the one in the screenshot?

Also if I search for my supplies value, things get even weirder. I have tons of instances for that one.

I hope finding the correct credit value is easier.

General Discussion / Can't find a single Heavy Mauler.

Hey,

I'm at cycle 211, like 16 hours of playtime on this run, and I've never seen a single Heavy Mauler, either for sale, or mounted on a ship.

I'm beginning to think there's a bug with this run. I'm playing 100% vanilla.

Anybody encountered the same thing?

Edit: Well, seeing as this thread has been seen 101 times with no answer, I guess nobody had the same issue. :/

For me it's the second time this happens, and with the same weapon. Both times were vanilla runs so I really have no idea what causes it.

General Discussion / How easy are "faster starts"?

Hey,

My current run isn't going very well so I'm thinking of starting over.

Every time I start a new game I do the exact same thing: Normal difficulty, Wolf start, then I get the Hammerhead in the tutorial zone.

This time I'm thinking of starting with the Apogee just to see what it's like.

Will it completely ruin the early game though? Is it much, much easier? No doubt it will be easier but I'm wondering how "fast", "faster" actually is.

General Discussion / Toggle for tank controls.

Hey,

Pretty sure I had made a thread about this before but after reviewing all my created threads, I can't find it.

Currently controls work this way: You pilot in arcade mode, or tank mode, and you can switch that temporarily with shift.

The thing I'm asking for, is that you're able to switch the mode permanently using shift, or another keybind.

This would make piloting certain ships much easier, instead of having to press shift for the entire battle, or having to go to settings to switch the default mode.
