Midline ships tend to be quite directional with lots of forward hardpoints or broadsides.

Thunderheads are rather flux hungry for what is basically just a slightly improved and more expensive HMG without pd hints.

Are the small Splinter Rocket Launchers supposed to be much more accurate than normal when installed in turrets?  I haven't really found anything good to abuse this with but it's an odd quirk.

To clarify: they fire 2 of the 4 shots with no spread at all and the other 2 halfway in between the 2 spreads you get when firing from a hardpoint.

The ai doesn't get Brawlers, aggressive officer or not. It looks like it's trying too hard to line up shots with the brawler's wide hardpoints and also leaving a lot of flux free for the shield.  It performs better if you give it missiles in the universal slots and a lot of capacitors.  Even a steady officer will get right up in a Venture's grill when given 2 assault chainguns, 2 kinetic missiles and enough extra flux to feel like it can tank a good hit on the shields.

I started trying to stat out a McKenna but WarShips have vast amounts of weapons compared to anything Starsector, modded or otherwise.  The McKenna in particular has nearly 80 of them, all the largest possible of their type, 3 fighter bays, and tons of armor.  Even ships much smaller than the SLDF's rigid space dong pack scores of guns pointing in every direction.  Someone at FASA must have really liked Gunbuster.

Nthing aggressive pilots in SO ships.  They're the only ones who seem to understand that they're on the clock and need to hurry up.

Enforcer "Bowling Ball": 5x HMGs, 4x Annihilators, SO, AE or UI to taste, Heavy Armor, Armored Weapon Mounts, other mobility, defensive, and missile hull mods as you will.  You have over 360 burn drive speed, 1600 kinetic dps, 4000 HE burst damage you can do again at least 10 times and the (XIV) version has more armor than many capships.  

Ram some chump, eat his shields and feeble attempts at missile fire, then core him with a hail of rockets.  Repeat until out of chumps.  Feel free to replace 1 or 2 of the HMGs with your favorite implementation of 2 vulcans welded together, you'll find them in roughly every other faction mod.
