Suggestions / "Eliminate Order"

Only allow ships that can handle the power/loadout of said designated ship and survive to be designated automatically. Otherwise big problems will arise from rare ships with bad flux management literally throwing themselves at capital ships.

General Discussion / I will say this about carriers.

Why would you put a ship that needs to be far away to be of optimal value in the game if the captains are going to be the most incompetent fools on the field, constantly huddling together with other ships instead of retreating like they're told to or keeping their distance?

I had 4 carriers in my fleet, all run out of CR rating and what do they do? They sit there, facing the enemy, occasionally flying towards them instead of retreating, I literally gave the retreat with haste, they still sat there like an incompetent ant who lost their way and thinks a leaf is going to protect it from an anteater.

I'm blowing my steam off because I see this ineptitude from even Timid commanders, especially Aggressive commanders who get put in Mora's, they instead go jack off to some other area instead of being the bullet sponges, and completely the reverse for timid commanders.

It bloody irritates the ever loving tick off of me and here I am blowing my steam off.

This may come off as ignorant, but have you experienced this? This is at least the 40th time this has happened. And it goes for BOTH sides of the battlefield.

Oh, and something I forgot, they need to literally been taken control of to get them to retreat.

Bug Reports & Support (modded) / I can't access my latest save?

So, I boot up Starsector today, wait for it to load.

Error, see starsector.log for info

I though "hmm strange, didn't I have two saves?"

I check the Load Save data (bear in mind I do have both saves) and only my error-filled one is there.

That is very suspicious and strange.

Prior to reverting back a save it didn't appear at all.

I also have some problems with the game freezing with a loading icon and stopping working (without pressing anything), while my computer does use at least all 12 gigabytes of memory when possible.

Had Nexerelin and other mods enabled, travelling to a Black Hole system with at least one planet in the system (A Frozen Planet, which the target was orbiting)

At least half or one second after I get in and start moving to the frozen planet, this error occurs

So, fellow Starfaring Captains, what is the story behind your names/avatars?

For mine, it was first a thought process after witnessing the Irradiation Cascade ability from the Hierachy's Science Walker from Universe At War : Earth Assault.

Imagine a mobile superweapon emitting such a high level of radiation in a wave that it irradiates even metal itself when it sweeps over said metal. Not even the Masari were safe from it, and since the Hierachy seem to live with Radiation and it heals them, it's essentally like the Miasma from Toukiden 2, but weaponised (now that I think about it).

Seeing it was called the Irradiation Cascade, I took the "Cascade" part, and spliced it with another feature, which relates to my Xbox years (AkridViper, mainly named after the Akrids from Lost Planet, especially the Gorechryatis, since that was also an Akrid, with Vipers being a species of snake). This name, for the period I was known as for the time being was CascadeFreak, which I still use to this day.

Then, after seeing the movie, Project Viper (a movie aired on the Sci-Fi channel, now known as SyFy), I decided to then make the name "ProjektCascade" (I had no idea Projekt was also a different translation of Projekt at the time, so it caught me by suprise when someone responded in German to me).

Then I played Zero-K and that's where I discovered Tachyon from, because of the Tachyon Projectors and their massive burst damage, while also being purple (probably violet even!). They even had mobile versions of the Projector turrets on a hover platform, so I used a LOT of those for hitsquad duty. Sadly I wasn't capable of very good micromanagement, so I stopped playing Zero-K, but the Tachyon stayed with me.

This also explains the primary part of my forum name, named after my two favorite things. As for the avatar, they are supposed to be the embodiment of both of those elements (it's plausible that tachyon isn't an element but for the sake of illogicality if it calls for it, I did it anyway), while also having a home in a yet unseen part of the galaxy (it's part of the plot @[email protected] ).

It's also how I discovered that my favorite colors are mainly in the blue/red spectrum, but a retina searing acid green is always good too ;)

Remember, as long as the colors are good looking to you, or anyone else, all can be good.

Something that has never happened with my Starsector in amplified cases happened today, not once, but twice.

I crashed, but it wasn't a crash to desktop.

It gave me a BSOD twice in a row, probably will even do it a third time...

General Discussion / Turning a faction hostile?

So, I already know about relations and turning a faction hostile by attacking fleets with transponder on, but what about having them hostile from the start?

I'd like to know how to do this, so I don't have to go through the procedure of having a hostile faction against my fleet (especially for Nex)

So, anyone played Avorion yet?

I have and it's a time-occupant, thankfully :)

Right now i'm enjoying it and the awkward looking ship designs. I also cannot wait to build a battleship and have a fleet with me to hunt some pirates.
