Wow. Things will definitely get more interesting after that. I wonder what the community will look like after the steam release.

Suggestions / Re: The weekly teaser
« on: December 08, 2012, 03:09:18 PM »
Maybe go monthly then? I think that gives Alex a bit more time and perhaps more ideas to show off.

Just a minus, if this is implemented, then Alex has/gets to hear about everyone's opinion on what he has done for that week. IMO having someone say that how you spent your week is was a bad idea isn't exactly much of an incentive to work out of the box. I feel like Alex could end up trying to please everyone or take everyone's ideas into consideration. He'd have to worry at every decision whether or not we will like what he does rather than what he thinks will be best for the game. IDK. Just some theorizing.

I respect the people on this forum so much.

I agree, but we're not perfect.

If you call users (direct or indirect) unfriendly, unwelcoming, snappy, rude and contemptuous that will certainly not help forum's atmosphere.

Actually I think it will. If the forum and its members are not constantly reflecting on what they say and how they act, then we will not be serving out the purpose of this forum. We need to be constantly reassessing how we say things and what we say to members, both old and new, as well as holding other members accountable through criticism. If we aren't constantly reinventing ourselves and listening to the comments of our peers, then we fail to grow as members of this forum and as people. So yeah, initially, it won't help the forum's atmosphere, but ultimately, it will lead to a net improvement as people accept the criticism and work to improve themselves and the forum's atmosphere.

I've said a pretty similar thing before as well. So as nice and true as your ^ reference is, we have to be aware of the fact that we are far from perfect. IMO, this forum community should be a reflection of the game that is its basis, inviting and fun for both the old and the new, full of great ideas, easily change, constantly growing, and of course, sexy as hell. I think we have a good thing going here that will only get better if we pay attention to and work on it. Go Starfarer! And sports!

Just a plus which had already been mentioned in a probably long winded argument.

If it is implemented, you can be sure that it will be balanced, as opposed to some of the mods. Also, you can be assured of the high quality of the parts of well!

And a minus...

I think that this is one of those finicky things that kind of would be added on as the game neared completion. Takes lots of time and doesn't add a new dimension to the game-play which has seemed to be the trend over the past updates. IMO, make your suggestions. While they might not be implemented, you can be assured that whatever comes out of the dev-oven will be fantastic and delicious. And it will also include frosting and sprinkles.

De... Which ones? Where? Is there pre-existing lore for them that needs to be improved? Who made them originally? Questions to be answered Upgrade.  ;D

It's generally a good idea to do a search and see if your suggestion has been made before. Also putting it in the right place helps a bit too

Well this is what I was talking about with the whole search box thing. I think the whole point of calling people new members is that some of them are legitimately new to the community. They may not have been forum stalking as guests earlier to today, and they may have also been living under a rock and have no idea of what forum etiquette (i.e. Searching before posting) actually is. So the experience for this and probably a few other guys is that they get really pumped for what they think is a new idea, ask about it, and get a lot of people annoyed at them because they asked about something for the 1000th time. So I dunno, I see both sides of the argument, but I think that as a forum vets, we are better able to resolve the issue in a nicer way. I was definitely detecting some (hopefully!) unintentional passive aggressiveness. See? There's the sensitive thing. Whatever. That's my 20 cents.  :P

Honest to god, I didn't find anything either and I'm pretty sensitive. I saw one instance in which someone pointed you towards the search box function. While an underlying insult to your intelligence could and probably was intended, I haven't seen anyone being outright rude or nasty directly to you. However, the poster did assist you by linking and pointing you towards the information you were looking for, so I guess you have to take the help with a grain of salt.

I do however agree with your statement that people aren't always the nicest on this forum. But, I'd say that this forum is drastically, as in leaps and bounds, ahead of the curve. Generally, people on this forum are nice, helpful, and open to new ideas, which I guess makes the missteps all the more egregious. In my opinion, I think that the people on this forum are really awesome, but sometimes they have trouble incorporating new members. I don't really do a lot in regards to the modding community, bug reporting, or anything really, but I do want new members to feel welcome.

You have to remember that people are people. They have their flaws and their qualities; you have to accept both. The same stands for this forum. Not everyone is perfect in every moment, but I know that people on this forum try pretty damn hard (Myself included). I've had lots of good experiences on this forum, and I hope you will too. Welcome and happy 'faring.

This concludes my soapbox session for the day.  ;D

Put me in coach!  ;D

I'm back for an undetermined amount of time and am ready to either contribute to the lore or edit peoples chizz.

Must've been the update that brought me back.

Or a 7.75/10. Whatever you like. I thought it was pretty cool. Not my style, but not a load of crap either. Music video was pretty cool too. Was there an HD version available?

I've played the piano since I was 4 or 5. It's alright if you're into that kind of stuff and you play music you like. I also have been dabbling in electronic music production. That is by no means easy so maybe not something you would want to do. I also like to read a lot and stuff like that. I really like going to the movies with my friends, and I also like to occasionally street race. If you're looking for a physical activity, I'd really recommend functional movement. It's similar to weight lifting, but the focus is more on form and controlling your body. You get in great shape, but you do have to work hard. Nice thing is, that no matter how big or small you are, everyone has to compete against their own body. Another alternative could be swimming. I've got no experience in that, but I do know that you will get in even better shape in less time. Plus you get to be in the water while you work out and who doesn't like that?

Okay well that's pretty much what I do with my life so there. Oh and school.  ;D

Just do whatever is fun for you. No point in doing something if you don't enjoy it right?

I haven't tried to yet, but I do have my big rig plugged into an HD TV through HDMI so I figure it would look pretty good. Top that OP!  ;D
