General Discussion / Re: Am i just stupid or is this a serious problem?

This one got me too. Changing it to a right-click would make the most sense for me. Shift-clicking isn't intuitive and it was VERY frustrating for me that I couldn't find how to do it anywhere in game.

Hell, it took me coming onto the forums and finding someone else who had the same issue's post to do it.

That should be fixed with the patch.  :)

Yay!

I wouldn't mind a little more differentiation between missiles in flight though. Like, it's hard to tell when you're being chased by Swarmers (which you can ignore for the most part), Salamanders (which necessitate some shield movement to keep you from flaming out), or Pilums/Harpoons (which hurt like hell and HAVE to be shielded or dodged, especially in a frigate)

Broadswords TEAR shields down, even on big capital ships.

Suggestions / Re: Fighters- Hangar Space- Travel Speed.

I'm just kind of frustrated with the fleet size-speed calculations as they stand. If I'm spending extra money and OP (augmented engines) to run a fast fleet of ships, then I shouldn't be stuck being barely slower than a solo Venture.

Also, from a gameplay perspective, I like how fighters show up in fleets on the campaign map, even if there is hangar space available for them to be in. It gives me an idea of what I'm getting into.

This may or may not be related, but if I have a 9-ship fleet of all Hyperions, Tempests, Wolfs with Augmented Engines, Wasps, and Broadswords, I should be able to catch fleets that are made of much bigger and slower ships. I paid extra money and OP for the ability to run a speedy fleet; I should be able to benefit from that.

I generally just sell off any fighters I get in the early stages that aren't Broadswords. Too much hassle, and my frigates generally do a better job.

If you like flying around and blowing things up from a top-down perspective with similarly customizable ships, Space Pirates And Zombies (SPAZ) is the way to go.

fateofman, I am not a lawyer but as far as i know you need ccp's permission to use their designs.
I know there is a mod out there that uses their designs and seems to have their permission, http://www.moddb.com/mods/eve-rts, maybe as the maker of the mod how he got permission?.

While this mod is lowprofile you won't have any problems but you could run into some, just look at what happend to most Halo mods out there.

Still your first ships looks good :)

Under US law, (which may not be the correct jurisdiction here, CCP/EVE is in Iceland, and the EVE server is in England) You have the Fair Use right to make derivative art from existing copyrighted material.  HOWEVER, if you don't make any substantial changes to the art work, like at least a major recolor, then you might be guilty of NOT making something derivative, but instead just copying, which is a no-no.

That being said, I'm fairly sure no one will give a care.  Mainly because unless CCP can show damages from your actions, they won't get anything from pressing a case.  Being a civil matter, the most likely outcome is a cease and desist order.  Which itself has dubious legal qualities, but I'm not going to go into that.

In short, you are fine unless you try and sell/popularize your mod beyond this group of users (Starfarer players).

I am not a lawyer, I do work in a law office, though this is not my field of practice.

Sounds about right. As far as I know (my Copyright professor studied in the UK and liked to compare our system with theirs) their copyright system is similar enough in that regard so as to make little appreciable difference.

Great game! Loving it so far.

One question: Is there any way to make sure that when your fleet is all clustering round that last cruiser, you don't lose irreplaceable destroyers and frigates when it finally goes nova? I just lost a Tempest and a Medusa when a crappy Pirate cruiser went up. From full shields and hull to nothing, all because they decided to butt heads with the thing while pumping it full of holes.
