Discussions / What happened to Uomoz?
« on: March 16, 2023, 09:12:43 AM »
I was going through the mods forum today and something made me think back to the older versions and some of my favorite mods even when it was a single system. I was reminded of Uomoz, and checking their profile says they haven't been online since October 2020. Anyone know what happened? Was it just boredom of the game or brief real life issues, nothing catastrophic hopefully? Regardless, hope they're doing well now, wherever they are.

Bug Reports & Support / Joining the battle burn drive collisions

Spoiler

Yes, he managed to wrap completely around the venture and end up in front of it. Good times were had by all.

Maybe not quite a bug, but hopefully unintended and removable behavior. I joined a fight that my allies had started and they therefore deployed slightly ahead of me. Just far enough ahead, in fact, that my ships promptly burn drived (drove?) straight up their backsides, taking a decent amount of damage. Hopefully this is a simple "clear this starting area when generating the battle-in-progress map.

Bug Reports & Support / Friendly Fire Incidents
« on: December 01, 2015, 03:16:14 PM »
I've had three battles now where I am 100% certain that at no point did I ever cause friendly fire, but I still lose reputation due to "significant friendly fire incidents". Is it possible that I'm being dinged for ANY instance of friendly fire regardless of who caused it? I can't really provide proof unless you want me to start recording entire large battles (and I have no clue what software to use to do such a thing) but I'm running a beam wolf with missiles and have been dinged in fights where I never fired a single missile. Unless the beams are somehow doing significant friendly fire damage (which would probably necessitate a look at the firing AI in its own right I'd imagine) when I'm not paying attention there should be no way for me to have caused damage to allies.

Just wondering if anyone has found any jaw-dropping, must-have Christmas presents yet. I'm always getting yelled at to add more to my christmas list so I'm curious what everyone here is dying to get.

Bug Reports & Support / Mid-Destruction Pirate Fleet
« on: October 24, 2014, 02:52:25 PM »
I was following a pirate attack fleet while letting my CR be restored. While I did so, an independent fleet jumped the pirates. They fought at least once, and I dove in to try to hit the remnants before the independents got them. What I got, however, appeared to be the pirate fleet before it actually lost the ships it lost fighting the independents.

Four ships are marked as destroyed but I have yet to actually combat the pirates myself. It appears I was able to engage the pirates before their fleet actually lost the destroyed ships.
(also, it should be "The opposing fleet tries to disengage, but they won't be able to get away without a fight.")

Edit: also of note, I have the game running in the background, I haven't advanced from the screenshot, so if there's a specific action I can take either in the combat or perhaps in the log since I haven't advanced past this, please let me know if anything like that will help

I ask because I had an idea come together from a couple mods and other ideas mentioned. What if we changed navigation to revealing more about the universe around you? like level 0 navigation the map just shows stars, level one the stars have names, level two the jump points are shown, level three the jump point names are shown (though that might get crowded quickly) level four number of stations in a system is shown, level five factions are shown, etc.

I'm not sure how this would work with the fact that it tells you your destination when you click on an object, maybe just change that to a general description? "Setting intercept course for star"?

Anybody playing it yet? Thoughts? Do we want a starsector fireteam or anything? I don't know that clans are in the game yet, but what version is everyone on? I'm on XBone

General Discussion / SSD Benefits?
« on: August 10, 2014, 05:04:15 AM »
Hey all, have a question for you. I just got a Solid State Drive and I was curious what if any benefits I should expect to see putting StarSector on it. I forget the details but I had heard that some games it actually slows down due to some bottleneck somewhere and I was curious if anyone else had SS on an SSD to tell me if its worth it or not. Thanks!

Bug Reports & Support / Torpedo Bomber Glitch
« on: March 06, 2014, 12:17:24 PM »
This may be mod behavior but I'm not sure how. I was playing Uomoz's Sector and joined the BlackRock faction. I had their carrier that has two flight decks, two krait (heavy fighter) wings, and a squilla (torpedo bomber) wing. During combat, it said that my squilla wing had died. However, I just noticed (I'm still in the same battle) that there is still one squilla alive, circling above my carrier but never landing. Also possibly related, I changed both wings to have 5 ships per wing

mush.twinoid.com

Very interesting social strategy game, 16 crewmembers are on a ship, two of them have been infected by the titular mush. The human members must get rid of all the mush and survive to a new system (Eden) or else find a cure for the mush and return to Sol. The mush look to infect humans and turn them, sabotage the ship, and generally cause havoc without getting caught. They win if all humans die, the ship is destroyed, or if they survive to Eden as well (to then infect the settlement there).

It's a very interesting very fun game that does have something of a learning curve. Does anyone play this? I could see getting a starsector ship together, there's some way for everyone to be on the same ship but I'm not 100% on how
