Suggestions / Re: New player feedback
« on: January 29, 2020, 04:04:01 AM »
Because OP is obviously playing with tons of mods...
No. Vanilla. Also I feel like you're trying to be antagonistic for some reason. Could you stop?
Come on, it was such an obvious /s . No need to call me antagonistic just because you didn't get the joke (while it clearly says at the bottom I often joke).

Funniest part tho is saying that Plantissue was trash talking you and throwing ad hominems, you just need to mention the Dunning Kruger effect and you have the whole genius package. Dude was right, you're just giving feedback, we don't need an opening of your background like this is some big speech for an award. Literally no one cares you completed Minecraft on survival mode and got a victory royale 100 times, that doesn't make your feedback any more important that the rest of the community. I just get annoyed at these kind of people. inb4 ''you're being antagonistic''

What is this if not antagonistic? How is it ok to heckle just because it says your joking in your signature? There's nothing wrong with some background and introduction from a player new to the forums and if you don't care for it then I suggest you keep that to yourself.

General Discussion / Re: Question abut preordering the game.
« on: January 29, 2020, 02:31:37 AM »
I think it's a valid question but asked a bit too soon. I cant speak for anyone else but I would buy it regardless :)

This is pasted from the Suggestion forum regarding Steam:

Quote
Steam Greenlight is a great platform for indie games and its likely that Starsector will eventually use it (or other means to get on Steam). That time, however, has not yet come. Starsector still needs a bit to mature, I'm sure when it's ready the developers will make their move on steam. Here's what the lead developer said about the idea:

"Guys - I appreciate the thought, but I really don't feel like Starsector is ready for this kind of exposure. Please don't do anything on my behalf to make that happen - I think it could end up causing serious problems, both for the development of the game, the community, and, indeed, my mental health :) "

Have tried some things and advises, really helped a lot. But i've come across new question. Well, if i manage to refit ship with stuff that is not super efficient, but suits me well and i have some feel that i like to play that build, but still, it can be better with other things and guns. Like, you know, maybe it's wrong interpretation of what i'm trying to say. So, i mean, if i have like a capital or a cruiser that i'm sitting on, should i refit it for maximum efficiency, or just so that it will suit me and will be comfortable just for me?
Maximum efficiency can also be your capital working together with a carrier and other ships for support. For example skip point defense or anti armor weapons and solemny rely on others ships for various purposes.

Ok, it's my limit for how many colonies I can provide for myself without needing administrators. I was looking all over and couldn't figure this out.

What is the "mismanagement penalty" and where does it come from?

General Discussion / Re: Would you colonize this system?
« on: January 21, 2020, 03:22:16 AM »
I probably would, I havent found a system like that in my playthrough yet and I have been looking.
I also would not wait too long with colonizing but I guess it depends on how much funds you have. It's a nice way to long term invest spare capital.
The fact that the other planet have ultra rich rare minerals would seal the deal for me and having three planets in the system is probably a minimum for enough fleet defenses.
I would mot care for the solitary planet out of defence point of view.
The 150% "principle" is a good rule but its troublesome if you never find anything, better to build somewhere, it shouldn't be a dealbreaker

General Discussion / Re: 'Run Simulation' Question

It doesn't matter if it's against the autopuls Sunder the end result is the same. Just make sure to lower your shield so you don't overload.

Tried the SO Hammerhead vs Sunder, unfortunately there is no skill involved in this 6 second fight.

I've been wondering the same thing really on how to set up good fleets and I'm not sure yet tbh.
I always keep an eye on ship signatures so I don't have one ship stand out and if it does I equip it with an "insulated engine" or I just skip it all entirely.
Also keep an Eye on engine burn of course.

When it comes to ship build's I can sit a whole evening trying different combos. For example I had a hard time finding a good build for the Condor. Soon as I put Salamander MRM Pod on it it started to perform well so building upon the unique Ship skill can be efficient.

Thaago sums it up really well.

Unfortunately i lack any experience regarding the Sunder. However the Hammerhead i've tried with all possible builds and only found one build that it's good for and thats with "Safety Override" with 2x Assault chainguns. It will tear that Sunder to pieces. I keep at least 3 SO Hammerheads in my own fleet just for giggles.

It seems learning in this game is praying to god you have the patience to invest 5 hours through trial and error.
I've spent the last two weeks learning and sometimes quite basic things strikes me with epiphanies. If you have the patience I promise it will be well worth it.

You need to find a good balance with flux buildup, use "X" to hold fire if needed so you don't overload. Or vent all that flux using "V".
There has to be something you are missing, keep it at and I know you'll figure it out.

press "d" then "Manage administrators" then "Dimiss" in the administrator you want
Where is this "Manage administrators" button under command?

I'm stuck with Milton Waddams

Suggestions / Re: Add a auto save feature please
« on: January 17, 2020, 06:10:48 AM »
I do not want auto-save unless it is opt-in, especially in games that pause to save like this one.  I generally do not like games saving unless I tell them to.
This is easily fixed with a checkbox

I would like to be able to name my saves. Sometimes I save before an interesting battle, or reason, but I forget which save or why.
This would be great. Sometimes I'm up doing shenanigans far out in the sector and want to save just in case I get jumped but still want the option to go back to my original save.
