Was thinking while chugging through the sector, that it would be nice to be able to set auto-pilot and do all the busy work of the menus while still flying.
If the menus could be interacted with expanded, drug around on the main fleet screen while traveling instead of the pause/separate gui. You'd be flying around dodging storms and the like, but if you had some down time that wasn't 2x you could pop open intel or refit a ship.

So you know how the counter for a day is in the top left, and it cycles for four bars before it's the next day. Is there a way to modify how fast those bars tick to change the "length" of a day?

Relating to your first point, it would be cool to see an issued allowance to purchase a single hull of military grade. Kind of like a one time purchase ticket for a faction you might not be on good enough terms with.

What if when in turn-to-cursor mode your shields rotated around you in relation to the cursors vertical movement away and towards the ship? You could just tap shift again or cycle shields to rest your shield to front facing. If you keep the mouse movement to about an on-screen inch for the 360* bounds it doesn't really affect the camera panning. I could see it being hard to guess where the epicenter of the shield is when trying to block shots by shield activation cycling to negate shield rotation without some sort of indicator.

I've just built up a fleet of dooms and the mine spam is glorious, I shudder when thinking of the poor pirate souls as a minefields materialize in a blink of an eye around entire battle groups, love the activating sound. I don't know if anyone mentioned it but, the effectiveness of using mines to take out squadrons of fighters and bombers is pretty powerful. You just need to have one mine hit one fighter and the blast radius takes out nearly all in the group. If you have full mines and you place while under phase you can easily wipe out an entire fleet of fighters. It is really fun to place mines corralling fast movers into firing solutions. If I had to nerf the doom i'd remove the ability to place mines under phase, you can't use any other F ability while phased so it seems weird but it is a capital ship.

General Discussion / Non-refitable Battlestations?

So I've read some people can passively modify the weapons that battlestations have based on tech salvaged. Is there a reason why one can't just refit it like you would a ship? I can see how it could be overpowered, and there are already types of battlestations, but maybe make it an endgame feature or require some hoops to go through?
