General Discussion / Re: How do i deal with dumb friendlies
« on: June 04, 2020, 11:12:00 AM »
5: Never --and I mean, NEVER--  give the AI reapers.  Just...don't.  In fact, don't give them dumbfire torpedoes of any kind, period.  The number of enemy ships they MIGHT kill is NEVER worth the friendly ships they WILL kill by not checking their fire.

I once had the idea of deploying Mules full of annihilator missile pods with expanded missile racks. Took me a while to figure out why my own engines kept getting destroyed.

I actually posted that as a suggestion a while ago.

Option for no automatic rearranging/hiding weapon groups

I wish weapon assignment worked like in X3 series, those games nailed ship control, especially with mods.

I m using TJ to escape black holes and to deal with neutron stars (allows to go "deeper" to loot/investigate more stuff).

You can use e-burn for that instead.

There are so many devs that keep releasing half-assed updates too frequently, to the point where it's not worth committing to a long playthrough. Having stable releases less frequently is a lot better for Starsector imo.

General Discussion / Re: Starsector Wiki : Now in French !
« on: April 28, 2020, 11:33:58 AM »
Unfortunately Fandom has decided that its former plateform was too good, so they made a new one which is currently lacking a lot of features. English wiki is based on "Legacy" Plateform of Fandom.  But for French Wiki, I had no choice but to use the new plateform

They actually did that several times now, screwing older wikis and their editors every time in the process... And yet there are still editors that put up with their nonsense.

Good job with the translation anyway.

Not bad for a first run.

Makes we wish we had placeable map markers like that new zelda game so we can mark stuff on the sector map for later.
I draw my own map charts, pen and paper. Useful for research and mining stations missions intel.
That is a lot of work.
Not particularly

That also happens in vanilla. You can also find random derelicts floating in hyperspace.

Yes, you can find some ships in Vanilla. In Nexerelin you can find much bigger ships more often. Just park your fleet next to a faction battle and wait.
You can park near battles in vanilla as well.

In Nexerelin you're probably having more battles, so more ships.

I've never really had much success using the doom ship, never had a problem taking out the 1 i encountered in the wild either
There are specific tactics you can use.

Staying hidden most of the time, and placing mines on fighter wings completely cripples enemy carriers. You can also sneak behind a slow ship and empty some missiles into its rear.

I'd say Doom is the god king of the battlefield.

General Discussion / Re: Mod to allow more zooming out.

Be aware that there's no fog of war in combat, so you will be able to see ships that are technically outside your sensor range.
But... there is... At least I can't see ships outside a certain distance from my fleet.

I have RX 560, and it gets pretty terrible at 300 battle size. Even the fleet/refit screens lag somewhat.

There are many other research stations, and they are easier to find.
