No, it isn't abandoned, it is suspended, till release of version 1.0. Since amount of changes which Alex does for modding API is immense, I decided to wait for release 1.0, so I can start working fully on it.

Psiyon, I've looked in to the code and I want to thank you for idea. It seems that quite soon (or already now, I didn't checked) it will be possible to implement multiple systems per ship with custom keys.

Tollan Ion Cannon, eh? Don't compare mere defense cannon with 730km range vs IDF Main Caliber Weapon, that have effective range of 25 LY (or 250 LY with guidance from recon ships) with 10-100 scatter angle on such distances :P

Soo is this mod balanced? Because so far ( just started) everything seems totally out of whack ^^"
It balanced in its own way ;D

maybe the Hierarchy will get some buffs, too.
Be sure, Hierarchy will get buffs, once Alex will implement required features to add these buffs.

the worst thing is : it won´t be updated for now
No point in updating the mod, when I can't implement what I need in order to make game balanced.

Don't know if I'm the only one who's noticed, but the Hierarchy is taken from Universe at War. :P
Well, this image is temporary, I will make new one in one of the next releases.

Okie dokie. Guess i'll have to get a 0.53.1a version of starsector if i want to play this mod.
This is the reason why I have installed multiple versions of Starfarer :)

Not really, you can fire this weapon only every 5 or 6 minutes.

If name change was some copyright issue, I'm sure, pretty soon we will know about reason for it, because eventually someone will start digging for information and eventually will know who forced Alex to change the game. It can be weeks, it can be months, it can be entire year, but it will happen.

To continue conspiracy theory and make this thread less depressing. Here is possible list of those, who could act behind the scenes or from the shadows:
1. Electronic Arts - after all they destroy game development studios, maybe they aimed at this studio?
2. Acitvision - well, they destroy game genres, maybe they want to end space top-down 2d once and for all?
3. Square Enix - they ruin every game, they get their hands on. Maybe they wanted to turn Starfarer in to anime?
4. Blizzard - they like making Diablo series. Maybe they wanted to make Diablo in Space and Starfarer is good basis for it?
5. Valve - they like making Half-Life series. And Starfarer is what they need to show how awful war can be between Humans & Combine.
6. FBI - maybe Fox Mulder and Dana Scully found that Alex have something to do with Aliens, that visit our planet quite often?
7. KGB - maybe comrade Putin have some personal grudge against Starfarer?
8. Scotland Yard - maybe they found some impossible and inexistent connections that brought them to Starfarer?
9. The Illuminati - they was bored, so they manipulated copyright and entire countries just for lulz?

P.S. Starsector is quite suitable name for this game, so I actually like it.

Re: hats - Everything is funnier with hats. It's like a universal constant.
It still will take time before hats will be on same level of universal constants as 42 :P

Just ship system AI for now, mind you :)
Oh, it's already enough to cause total destruction with Systems I already implemented :)

When I have time to improve the game's modability, I'd rather spend it on exposing existing core features to mods.

Alex, what regarding making filter for weapons and weapon mounts?
For example adding to weapon.wpn something like "wpnFilters":"hir,idf"; which allow to use this weapon at any mount of same size and mount type that have filters like this:
{"angle": 0.0, "arc": 240.3, "id":"BGIGUN_TUR_M_01", "locations":[76.0,-0.0], "mount":"TURRET", "size":"LARGE", "type":"BALLISTIC", "wpnFilters":"hir"} or
{"angle": 0.0, "arc": 240.3, "id":"BGIGUN_TUR_M_01", "locations":[76.0,-0.0], "mount":"TURRET", "size":"LARGE", "type":"BALLISTIC", "wpnFilters":"idf"}
And vice verse, if mount have "wpnFilters":"hir,idf"; it can mount any weapon of same size and mount type that have "wpnFilters":"hir" or "wpnFilters":"idf"

I also didn't understood from updates, will some serious size projectiles have more health then some small bullets and missiles?
