I'm never deleting 54 from my computer though. I'll always have that last version that was still Starfarer! Viva la Resistance!

I really just wanted an excuse to chip in. If you were me, you'd take every opportunity to act all superior as well :D

Even panzer wasn't really welcoming, so I'll try:

Welcome to the forums.

P.S. Your life here, and indeed, on every forum, will be short and painful if you refuse to search for previously discussed topics. In addition, always assume:

A: If the game has singleplayer, someone has asked for multiplayer.
B: If the game has multiplayer, someone has asked for singleplayer.
C: If the game has both, someone has asked for extra modes.

Suggestions / Re: New Crew Types

I'm also not a huge fan of extra crew types, as Reuben says, when do we have enough bonuses? I've got hullmods, crew levels, captains, skills, ship designs, formations and nodes. What will more-extra-uber-additional-doubleplusgood-crew do? I'm happy with the amount of micromanagement I have to do, and when you put something like this in, it becomes either mandatory or meaningless. Leave it to the mods.

Given the heinous penalties you guys are suggesting, would anyone want to change the mount anyway? If the mechanism was included in the game, it would need to preserve flavour without going overboard on punishments. I partially support the idea, because I won't even start the game if I ca't pilot a Wolf, I just flat-out fail with any of the basic ballistic designs.

General Discussion / Re: Free discussion 54a: Missiles
« on: December 05, 2012, 11:26:43 AM »
I think the flak is fine. When a ship mounts flak, I know to weaken it first or fire out of it's arc. If a ship wants to completely cover itself in flak weapons, it deserves to take no damage from missiles, but its DPS is severely weakened by the use of all those slots for simply defending itself. Adding support ships with Pilums (pila?) to the mix can distract flak enough to let you get through, but honestly, it's not worth the effort. Flak cannons are the be-all and end-all of PD weapons. For my money, I prefer PD lasers, or tac lasers if I've got the small weapons->PD hullmod.

General Discussion / Re: Skill Balance
« on: December 05, 2012, 11:14:24 AM »
i'm actually of the exact opposite opinion on th +1 missile issue. I just stopped playing to come and ask if anyone else thought they were ridiculously awesome. Unlike Reaper racks, there's no reload time, so you can load 2 reapers onto a medusa and dish out 4 reaper torpedos in half a second. That definitely seems overpowered to me, but I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

As for the OP thingy, it does seems that I can take on an awful lot without even blinking. My medusa mounts 3 PD lasers, 2 LR PD lasers, 2 phase beams, and (before switching) 2 sabots. I was taking out fleets of ventures and enforcers with backup, all by myself, just because I had so many OPs to spend on vents and caps that if I started to reach my limit, I'd teleport away and vent down in a couple of seconds. While this was possible before, it required sacrifices elsewhere.

Also, it wasn't Buffy level of success, even though Buffy actual had significantly worse ratings in its first series. fox assumed that everyone that watched Buffy would watch Firefly, and when they didn't, Fox killed it.

There are parts going into the alpha (and thus, almost certainly into the full game) that were custom ordered by my own good self on the forums. I'm pretty active over there, and fully encourage everyoe to get on board. It's the only Kickstarter I've ever... kicked(?), so if my opinion is worth anything (no reason it should be), I advise you to get all up in that ASAP.

Thank you, Naufrago and K-64. I didn't bother to specify how many drives I had, because where would I even fit 32 external disk drives? :D

I see now why you thought 450 might be a little weak, as well, Faiter. Running that many drives would be monstrous.

Either way, it would be awesome. Hell, extend the idea. Simply have it "turn on" whatever it hits for one full second. If it hits a weapon, that weapon will just fire at whatever angle it's firing at, regardless of whether anything moves, or if it needs to conserve ammo. It could be wasting Vulcan ammo, or if you're lucky (or skilled) a reaper rack. An engine hit causes it to go full throttle, as previously mentioned.

It's only two readers, man. One for Blu-rays, one just for normal DVDs. When I'm hardcore into a game, I don't want to take the disk out all the time, but I might need to use the computer for something else, so I can keep one game in one slot, and do whatever else with the other.

I'm pretty sure I can run it all with 450. I'd say I need a 400, but only if I intend to overclock it significantly (I'm not, just a couple of tweaks, nothing noticeable). I considered 450 to be playing it safe. Have to see... :D

Its done! Just ordered a 3770k, GTX 670, Acer Sabertooth z77 and Acer water cooling.

EDIT: Updated gear

Intel i7 3770k 3.5Ghz
GTX 670
Corsair Vengeance 8gb RAM
1.5TB Internal storage
60gb SSD for OS
Water cooling

And my gaming gear:

Corsair Vengeance K90 mechanical keyboard
Corsair Vengeance M60 gaming mice
Corsair Vengeance 1500 gaming headset
2X Acer G245H gaming monitors

AWWW YEAH!

Got mine finished today, should be on the wing to me as we speak:

450W PSU
Corsair 8GB XMS3 PC3-12800 1600MHz
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 BIT
Asus P9X79 (Intel X79)
Arctic Cooling Freezer i30
10x Blu-Ray Reader & 16x Dual Layer DVD/CD Re-Writer
22x DVD/CD Re-Writer/Reader
3 TB Seagate (3000 GB) SATA-III HDD 7200 RPM 64MB
Intel Core i7 3820 (4 x 3.6 GHZ)
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 5.1 (PCI)
ATI Radeon HD 6770 - 1 GB - (PCI-E)
Wireless LAN 150Mbps (PCI-E)

I won't need to upgade this for a decent while, but it's put me back a painfully large amount of money, even cutting the 16GB Corsair down to 8GB. Originally I planned to have a 2TB mechanical drive, and a 1TB SSD, but SSD is so expensive, I decided to cut it.
